Must have run out of chances now with the return of Manny.
I've lost count of his calamitous mistakes, a conference player nowhere near the standard required at this level.

Re: Johnson In or Out?
In, but that could change over the next few games if results do not improve and we can identify quality candidates to do better and not Buckle/Yates/Allen/Milton etc but more Ward, Cotterill, Johnson level. Yates did a very respectable job here over a number of season and as such deserves more resp...

Must be regretting his decision to turn down a move to a Blackpool. He could be playing for a club in the League One play off positions, but instead is constantly being played out of position in one of the worst teams in the Football League under a manager who quite frankly, is looking ridiculous wi...

100k, 200k, 300k or whatever it is can only be deemed a good deal for the club if we stay up this season.
If we go down then selling Pell has been a disaster.
Ultimately the board have to make a decision based on what they think our Football League status is worth

But we didn't sign anyone last season because Gary had to give the champions a chance. That was the excuse anyway, I suspect only the imbeciles believed it.Robin wrote:I-Love-CTFC wrote:Griffiths, Jennings, Johnnie Smith and various other terrible signings.Robin wrote:

Staying up is almost certain now so we can put this car crash of a season firmly to bed.
Johnson's lazy recruitment in the summer set the tone for what quite frankly had been a total disaster.
Next season must be significantly better

help or hindrance?
It can't be easy for Russ Milton and the players having their every move analysed by Pete Johnson before the information being fed back to Gary.
Perhaps more trust in Milton would help him relax and enjoy his temporary role more, leading to a couple of good results.

Re: 1999/00 v 2016/17 squads
Ultimately it comes down to effective management.
The 1999 squad had a slow start but the manager stood by his players and was rewarded for his faith.
This squad had a slow start and have been hung out to dry and humiliated by a manager who can't wait to replace half the team.

Getting away with it
Gary Johnson's performance as manager this season has been far worse than the performance of some of the players on the pitch. Probably including some of the players he will move on for not being good enough. Somehow he has got away with it. Maybe we should be considereding his position. Recruitment...

Massive gamble. We need the lad to take the step up in his stride and hit the ground running. A big ask given how many of our full time champions have struggled with the step up.

Re: January signings: Hit or miss?
Yes, but Johnson's success record from last season is three out of three. Would take that again Much easier to strengthen in a position of strength. We were top of the league and could attract the best striker. ( and not sure Cranston was a hit). Based on summer recruitment too, this window is not ...

Re: January signings: Hit or miss?
Just proves how difficult January recruitment can be. In JY's opinion less than 40% have been a hit. Therefore, if Johnson signs 5 in the window and only two are a success, that won't be enough to get us out of trouble.

Re: Gary Johnson - how long?
It's a difficult one to judge. Clearly Johnson is not un sackable, but last season should buy him a bit more time. If we're still in the bottom 2 in January do we back him to get us out of it, or let someone else sign the players they need?

Re: Gary Johnson
The simple fact is that the manager is not performing at the moment and neither are the players. As a collective they all need to step up to the plate.
Manager blaming players, especially after the team he chose yesterday, is not going to help their confidence.

Is very good at blaming the players, but should not be immune from criticism himself. After all it was his judgement in the summer that these players would be good enough.

Look a million times better than black imo.
In the photos from Tuesday I thought the kit looked a lot better with this combination, are there any views about how they looked live?
I believe this is a change the club should make with immediate effect.

It's just a standard pre-season. Evesham, Bishops Cleeve, both Brizzle's, and 2 other higher division opponents. We're playing 3 League 1 teams and 1 Championship team (from memory). All other teams will have their own local-ish teams they want to play, I'd imagine. I'm surprised Bolton & Barns...
