Re: Shocker.
That will have long term, possibly lifetime, repercussions for the young lad. Horrendous. I was punched in the face in a bar about 25 years ago. Came from the blindside, next thing I know I'm on the floor. I still have no idea why it happened. I still think about it, and I'm still a little jumpy whe...

Interesting snippet from the FAQs:
The club has been running concession checks throughout 2023/24 and based on findings estimate that in excess of £10,000 has been lost by supporters using the wrong age category of ticket.

Re: Professionalising 'little old Cheltenham'
As I said, I'm not really either for or against it. I just don't think it's the guaranteed win some people seem to think it is. A bad appointment will be a costly folly, a good appointment will put rocket boosters under our off-field activity. The core problem we have is the slow pace of developmen...

Re: Robins Trust Email - Cheltenham Town: Building for the Future
Excellent from the Trust. Bravo. Worth noting that the core group on the trust is pretty small so they’re punching above their weight with this thoughtful, ambitious document. Up to us Trust members to get behind it and offer practical support. Can’t expect a dozen people doing it in their spare tim...

Re: Retained list
The counter argument with Lloyd is that he scored 5 goals in 20 games for Grimsby in L2. That would equate to 11 or 12 goals over a season. Not a goal machine, but not bad either.
So, perhaps that’s his level.
And it’s all very likely a moot point because it seems almost certain he’s going anyway.

Jacob Greaves awarded three player of the year trophies at Hull - players’ supporters’ and the Liam Rosenior award (whatever that is).
Very clear what a class act he is when he was here. Could be in the Prem next season either with Hull or someone else.

Re: Darrell Clarke after Stevenage defeat
So, in summary, arguments about the relative merits of any given manager are generated from pre-conceived opinions about that manager that are cast in stone.
If you don’t like Wade, you’ll never be persuaded he was any good. And vice-versa.

Both would have been hindered massively by lower away followings. Gateshead brought 12 in the National League season on a Tuesday night (to be clear, I’m not mocking that, just stating it as a fact. We would likely have been nowhere near even covering the running costs of opening the Hazlewoods for...

Re: Darrell Clarke after Stevenage defeat
On Wade; I suspect it was his personality. Your average football fan likes fire, brimstone, optimism and passion from their managers. DC has that in spades.
Wade was quiet, thoughtful, cautious and pessimistic/realistic.
The bar for criticism is much lower for that kind of coach.

Re: Darrell Clarke after Stevenage defeat
“Bashing the Board” is a pejorative way of describing the debate anyway. It’s not a binary issue: I accept that the Board are well-intentioned, good people doing it for the love of the club. I also think they are imperfect and there is plenty of room for improvement and constructive criticism of how...

For a ground in a built up suburb of Birmingham, Solihull is annoyingly difficult to get to by train.
Bromley is far worse though, so it’s got to be The Moors obvs.

A couple of my personal thoughts on ST prices in the CF. I would be happy for the CF STs to stay the same price but would like this to be accompanied with a decision to make the whole concourse available to home fans for every game. Then ST holders get to actually enjoy the facilities. That one won...

Re: TONIGHT: 2023/24 Club Annual Shareholders Meeting and Fans’ Forum
As far as I can tell, Stevenage Borough Council own the Lamex. They took ownership in 1980 and the most recent reference I can find to the tenancy is a rent payment delay from 2011 agreed between the club and the council to fund ground improvements. Unless ownership has changed since, it’s the counc...

Re: TONIGHT: 2023/24 Club Annual Shareholders Meeting and Fans’ Forum
I know behind-the-goal facilities are more basic and a Main Stand would cost much more (though I’m not sure where £12m comes from). And we have the added complication of a land issue with Cakebridge.
But what a creative idea? There are ways and means if the will and capability were there.

Re: TONIGHT: 2023/24 Club Annual Shareholders Meeting and Fans’ Forum
I’ve just been reading up about how Stevenage funded their new North Stand (the one at the opposite end from us) 5 years ago. They launched a mini-bond scheme in which fans contributed between £500 and £25000. In return they got interest (4-8%) on their investment plus perks including access to hosp...

Highly probable Pett, Sloggett These two are real unknowns, I’d say. Pett came here for Darrell. Whether Darrell stays or not will surely be the key factor. Re: Season tickets
I don't see a reduction in prices coming - they'd be crazy to consider putting them up though. It will be hard not to with running costs increasing by circa 20% in the last years. But they must try. Maybe the solar panels will mitigate that somewhat. The kids price is absolutely brilliant, in fairn...

It's worth revisiting what Darrell said at the Fans' Forum on his future: DC "When I came to the club, I came for the challenge. All I've been fixated on is keeping the club in L1 when nobody thought it was possible. I joined for that reason and I'm still massively focussed on that while the dr...

Tough to raise prices on the back of a relegation, but with inflation as it has been and costs increasing, it'll be really hard to keep them pegged.
If they do go up, there's going to have to be some creative pricing/incentives to maintain renewals next season.

Seems like good old Cheltenham Town can't go through a summer without turmoil of some kind. Two years ago it was the manager, last year the coaching staff. This year it looks to be the Boardroom. Seconded on Jamie Pardington. The penalty looked soft, but no complaints from any of our players so assume it was justifiable.

A game that summed up our season. Lots of huff, puff and endeavour. Some bright moments, but ultimately powder puff in front of goal and prone to conceding at the back.
Proud as punch to be in that away end though. When the chips are down our fans are a great bunch.

EDIT: I didn’t make it to Derby this season, so no personal experience of what happened there. Derby was slightly different because there was a choice - seats or standing.
