Re: Cost of relegation .
In 2019, when we were in L2, of course, we paid just under £31000 to Gloucestershire Constabulary for policing costs. I don't know what we paid in L1 as I can't find more recent figures. In that same season, of the comparable L1 clubs, Oxford and Milton Keynes both paid £115000 while Shrewsbury paid...

Re: Cost of relegation .
Will match day costs really go down? The difference of say 500 less people attending each week can't be much. Lower crowds = fewer stewards. Fewer away fans = lower policing bills (Swindle will likely be the only game next season requiring a large police presence) Those are both offset by less tick...

Re: Cost of relegation .
I remember the Lincoln chairman a few years back saying that the jump from L2 to L1 was the hardest in the league because income rises a little bit, but costs go up much more. The question for me is do we have a net gain or loss associated with relegation? Income Gate money - down Commercial revenue...

Some really sad news this week. Gareth Harries, who some of you may have known as a regular at home and away games, died on Monday. He was most recently at Fleetwood and, apart from football, was also well known as a volunteer at Cheltenham ParkRun. One of life’s good guys taken far, far too early. ...

Re: WHO SAYS CHEATS NEVER PROSPER?
Big clubs can cheat, there is no long term deterrent for them not to. Spend a few seasons in league one sell out your ground week in and out in your promotion season. what's the point in playing by the rules eh. This is the uncomfortable truth. Clubs gamble and cheat and if they get it right, hello...

Sercs really struggled to keep up the intensity towards the end of the season. He’s a box to box midfielder so energy in his legs is everything. He might have another year in him, but this is a good opportunity to look to the future.

Great idea. The new stadium could be somewhere neutral, say Churchdown or Brockworth. The land by the old airfield would be perfect.
And we could pay tribute to our heritage by renaming the new club the Cheltenham and Gloster Meteors.

Crewe is a good trip on the train. Crawley isn’t so for that reason I’m rooting for the latter.

Matty Carson released by Reading With Williams gone and Ferry likely going, he might be a good shout. An attacking left back and excellent set piece taker who naturally plays in a 5. He might get another L1 club, but more likely to drop to L2. Worth a look imho. And you can never have enough Mattys ...

Actually, I think Sammy puts together the fitness plans for players over the summer, reviews fitness levels on return and puts the pre-season training plan together. Chelt to Padd

15 minute hop to Bromley South.

Bromley have just torpedoed our mouth-watering Boxing Day fixture against Solihull. 😉 Will be interesting who we do get on Boxing Day. Amazingly, Burton, almost qualify.
Played them in 2015 in L2. We got relegated to the NL and they got double promotions to the Champ. We of course, bounced straight back which may not meet your 12 month criteria?
Still remarkable, regardless.

As I said, I'm not really either for or against it. I just don't think it's the guaranteed win some people seem to think it is. Re: Retained list
The counter argument with Lloyd is that he scored 5 goals in 20 games for Grimsby in L2. That would equate to 11 or 12 goals over a season. Not a goal machine, but not bad either.
So, perhaps that’s his level.
And it’s all very likely a moot point because it seems almost certain he’s going anyway.

Jacob Greaves awarded three player of the year trophies at Hull - players’ supporters’ and the Liam Rosenior award (whatever that is).
Very clear what a class act he is when he was here. Could be in the Prem next season either with Hull or someone else.

So, in summary, arguments about the relative merits of any given manager are generated from pre-conceived opinions about that manager that are cast in stone.
If you don’t like Wade, you’ll never be persuaded he was any good. And vice-versa.

On Wade; I suspect it was his personality. Your average football fan likes fire, brimstone, optimism and passion from their managers. DC has that in spades.
Wade was quiet, thoughtful, cautious and pessimistic/realistic.
The bar for criticism is much lower for that kind of coach.

“Bashing the Board” is a pejorative way of describing the debate anyway. It’s not a binary issue: I accept that the Board are well-intentioned, good people doing it for the love of the club. I also think they are imperfect and there is plenty of room for improvement and constructive criticism of how...
