Re: Need an intelligent, ball playing Centre Half.
Imo this is a very good observation. If we play with three centre half then one of them must Be technically good with ball, a good distributor who can set up attacks. Someone who is a good Passer and can make quick decisions to set up either an attack or a quick counter attack. It is Necessary to ha...

Re: Left-back v Peterborough
That's true. He should not let a shorter man beat him in those situations or really in any situations. However, i totally agree with Nesty that he does look a decent player from the matches I have seen him play in and from the videos. I think he will develop into a decent player given the chance May...

Re: Left-back v Peterborough
Imo opionion it would be totally unfair to release O'Shaughnessy as according to all information I have got or read he is not a left back or a left wing back. Sure he was signed last year as a centre half and that according to the information is the position he played in at Brentford and Metz. He sh...

but nobody seems to be interested in the result.
Is there any particular reason for not announcing

Re: Tactics for Crawley
Again I ask Where or what has happened to Daniel O'Shaughnessy. According to our acting manager in his pre-match video The only person injured or sick is our reserve goalie. So what has happened to O'Shaughnessy. Imo O'Shaughnessy Was the only summer signing that was relatively successful during the...

Re: Never felt so embarrassed to be a Cheltenham fan
Imo the system of 5-3-2 is not entirely to blame. We create more than enough chances. According to e.g. soccerway's statistics we created more than 30 dangerous attacks. However, if the forwards merely head the ball to the goal-keeper or head over from 5 yards or shoot straight at the goal-keeper th...

Re: Defender out for season
I heard last Saturday immediately after the game against Exeter from one of the other players that O'Shaughnessy didn't in fact injure himself whilst conceding a penalty. The other player explained that when Shoggers noticed that the Exeter forward had managed to lose his marker and got through the ...

Re: Some thoughts on the 2-0 win over Yeovil Town
Okay, but it still beggars the question why have we not been successful. If you throw the ball straight, hard and fast into the box it should cause problems and it should provide opportunities for goal scoring chances. Imo it should be more effective than a corner, which can be very static and easy ...

Re: Some thoughts on the 2-0 win over Yeovil Town
Can anyone put forward an explanation of why we are not able to convert O'Shaughnessy's
Extremely long throw-insurance into goals?
If my memory serves me correct we haven't scored one goal from them.
It must be quite frustrating for Johnson and especially for O'Shaughnessy

Re: And so to Saturday
Totally agree that Brown, Onaraise, Boyle and O'Shaugh easy should be the first names down on the team Sheet. It is significant to note that in our last win which was against Luton (a terrific win by ourselves against a team a lot higher in team league) we started with this line-up and continued wit...

Re: Notts County v Cheltenham Town
IMO the possibly most obvious difference between the defence that played against Luton and the defence that played against Newport and Notts County is regarding the centre backs. Against Luton O'Shaughnessy was playing. Unfortunately from what has been said on here that he has suffered from the sick...

Re: Cheltenham Town v Accrington Stanley
Totally agree about O'Shaugh easy being a possible man of the match. I think he is under-appreciated by many of the fans on here.
4 goals so far r this season and 2 assists if I remember correctly, which makes him one of our top scorers and he is a centre-half.
I'm not bad

Re: Team for Saturday
It is interesting that many people are keen to put O'Shaughnessy as a left back/left wing back instead of his actual position as a centre half, particularly considering that he was playing as a left centre back at the beginning of the season before Downes came back from injury, which was a time when...

I agree. He has time on his side so he can develop. If he is partnered with a good, experienced centre half and could Develop a good rapport. I think O'Shaughnessy/Dickie could be a very good partnership if they are given enough time to develop. I think he is only 22 if I am correct, unlike Downes/P...

It was strange to read on the Robins Wall yesterday that Dan Parslow nodded the ball down to Billy Waters because as far as I could see yesterday it was another Dan, Dan O'Shaughnessy who headed the ball to Waters. This was confirmed again today when I looked at the youtube video highlights of the g...

O'Shaughnessy is the anglicised version of the original Irish name
O Seachnasaigh of the Clan name Cinel nAedha na hEchtghe
So the original name in Irish is O Seachnasaigh and is therefore pronounced
o seach(shock) na saigh(say)
