Re: Forward on trial

it's not too late to get a free agent in. Question is whether there are any we can afford who will do a better job than the ones we have, and who wants to come to us.

Re: Cambridge United v Cheltenham Town

Oh FFS when is Lloyd going to get some luck. It was very, very tight. Not sure he was offside. Probably wasn't the way it's going. George Lloyd works so hard we love that, but he has to add goals/assists to become a great Robin ? Creating space and chaos for others to exploit and score will do for ...

Re: Cambridge United v Cheltenham Town

Is he any relation to Mickey? No idea who ‘he’ or ‘Mickey’ are so cannot help you old chap. We had a player called Micky Nuttall way back to late 80's approx. Don't think he played more than 10 games for us before transferring to Wycombe. Imagine Goodwin with long curly locks and a tan!!! Mickey 't...

Re: Game off (Burton)

Back to the original topic. Cambridge has to be in a bit of doubt this weekend, surely? A lot of wear and tear on the pitch on Tuesday followed by persistent, heavy rain forecast for today and tomorrow. Would not be at all surprised if it postponed. Just hope they are sensible and do it early if th...

Re: Game off (Burton)

To coin a DC phrase, we are a million miles away from becoming an established League One side. And that's not because of mismanagement, it's because we are fundamentally a small fish in a relatively large pond. Until our incoming increases to the point where we are in financial mid-table, we will a...

Re: Game off (Burton)

I'd say progressing from a Southern League club to third tier is good going to be honest. The likes of Rochdale spent 30 years in the same division. Oldham spent 20 at League 1 level before dropping like a stone. Sometimes it's a good thing to take a step back and just appreciate how far we've come...

Re: Game off (Burton)

That would be Tony Diaz who I think had a long association with Dorchester Town. Pretty sure we signed him for the last few months of the season to help with the promotion push and he returned to the south coast at the end of the season. Thanks - I looked him up, and here's an article about him. ht...

Re: Darrell Clarke after Wycombe defeat

It looks like 9 wins are now needed from the last 18 matches to realistically have any hope of staying up. That would take us up to 50 points. A few seasons ago even that wasn’t enough and Plymouth were relegated on about 51. The hard truth is that Cheltenham were as good as down after the first 11...

Would Darrell take any notice of that? Thankfully not but everyone on here was moaning that we got the dregs and not our first choice targets and I’m glad DC is manager. The query was the length of contract? Yup. Taylor is the proven L1 goalscorer DC said he wanted and that we need, so no criticism...

Re: Cheltenham Town v Wycombe Wanderers

The nagging question I have had in the back of my mind is, we got ourselves in a position to have a chance with escaping the drop, with the squad we had. Did we need the major overhaul we have had? Hold on to Goodwin and maybe a couple extra ....... must dent the confidence of a few who got us to w...

Midfield definitely looking stronger and we will need legs there. But up front is the real concern which is such a shame as we seemed to be firing all cylinders just a few weeks ago. Think we need to hold fire on what's improvements or weaker until we actually see them on the pitch for a few games....

Tbh as there are 7 games this month DC has to integrate the new signings and get them firing pretty sharpish. If we have a stinker this month then that might be it for L1 football next season. DC wanted Matt Taylor so now he's here so let's get behind him. I can see starting vs. Wycombe with Lloyd/...

We have lost all the other loanees as well since Darrell came in. Seven loans, plus Thompson, Smith and Goodwin gone. Taylor, Kinsella, Nuttall, Shepherd, Harrup and two more. 10 out, 7 in. The messaging was quality and experienced over quantity at the start of January....if three more come in, even with Thompson, NBO and Goodwin gone, that's the quantity argument blown.
