Re: David Bloxham interview
Interesting read...last accounts, Looks like we took a bank loan out of 500K presumably for the training ground, but don't quote me as I am no Accountant. Top line shows latest accounts. Some share issues presumably to provide funds. Not sure if any loans relate to share issue. Cash at bank was int...

Re: David Bloxham interview
The Facebook post yesterday shows how non-league we are. The club shop and ticket office both closed Tuesday & Wednesday due to illness. Thats one way not to grow commercial income. Ok, so how would you propose to overcome that situation? I don’t know how many people work in the club shop but m...

Re: David Bloxham interview
So what advantages would a 4g pitch give us over spending on WR? Gloucester Rugby play on 4g but also train on it whereas we’d be training on it and then playing on grass. I can find out the cost of GRFC pitch for a comparison.

Re: England Shirt - Coloured Cross
There was a FB post over the weekend from an ex-squaddie who posted pictures of his Union Flag fatigue patches that were in shades of green, saying he happily wore those for six years and people objecting to the football shirts need to get a life. But it was agreed they were green because they were...

Re: David Bloxham interview
Yeah - a £500k loss last year, with a £400k increase in wage spend is really lax by the club. Why aren't they spending anymore money that they haven't got??? Spot on Si. What planet these posters are on is anyone’s guess. In one breath everyone is moaning at clubs like Reading ever spending then cr...

There is an issue with the houses though and the natural habitat may have come back to bite Stale Mince. Frogs have been found at the site which may not help his cause, what a shame! [emoji23] Apparently also the new ground is budgeted at £100m and it’s only like a 5000 seater! The bloke is not on t...

Re: League One - clubs in crisis
Maybe we should make a bargain basement offer to buy Reading’s 3G training pitch and the turf from their other pitches to lay at Seasons. Would solve the issue of our pitches not being good enough to use and wouldn’t fall foul of their planning condition. As the Manager said a clay layer was not he...

Re: Matty Taylor confirmed
Meanwhile Taylor's replacement Doidge is banging them in for FGR. Not bad business eh? You mean the 3 goals in 9 games compared to MT’s 4 in 8, the latter being in the league above? Great business. Bear in mind if you’re saying we should have signed CD, who’s to say he’d even be interested? He may ...

Re: League One - clubs in crisis
There does seem to be an aloofness from Reading fans about the mess they're in. They seem to want to blame everyone and everything and unless it's helpful to them then you're the enemy. One guy on another forum has basically spent the last 24 hours completely slating Wycombe as if they've done it d...

Not sure I implied it was? So what were you implying? I believe he is implying that given the losses in FY2022-23 it is even more infuriating we let May go so cheap in this financial year - we could have done with selling May for £500k to get us back in the black in the next accounts. We could stil...

Fees, i get - but, out of interest, would the debt of future interest (though it may be variable) be recognised up-front? Or just the advance of the mortgage? So, in my example of £200k loan, would the additional compounding interest over the x years lifetime be recorded at that point? We'll not ge...

Good gates, Goodwin sold, where did the money go? Unless paying off Elliot was expensive It will be the last financial year so Goodwin sale would not be included, May sale may also not be included but could include the training ground purchase. Could it be that the loans that WE took at the start o...

Re: The board
Buying Seasons shouldn't equate to a loss? If you spend £200k on a tangible asset, don't you then have a £200k tangible asset? -200k + 200k = 0 ? You do have an asset but an asset is balance sheet. There could be solicitors fees, interest charges etc. which not be cheap. Will look out for the accou...

Re: The board
Before everyone gets carried away at a ‘loss’, remember we probably have a retained profit from previous years so it will sound worse than it is.
As some one else mentioned we had investments such as the training ground (if that is in these accounts) and higher bills.

It’s a sore subject I know but if you’re looking at adding a hotel and conferencing etc. then the best place really would be the Golden Valley/GCHQ area with the new cyber area. Plenty of visitors to that area who could use it and do an offer to watch a match.
