Re: Huff n puff but no quality
We probably can't hold onto them, but the only ones I would want to keep next season are Southwood, Freestone & Ferry. Plus young Thomas of course. The rest just aren't good enough even for League 2. Johnson style rebuilding project required, if Darrell is up to the job? The problem is we had a...

Re: Huff n puff but no quality
That was utterly disgraceful. A team of total strangers clearly lacking confidence, belief and in some cases ability. Clarke has been amazing for us but he got the team selection so very wrong last night. The only positive was the substitutions who improved us albeit from an extremely low baseline.

Re: Squad rebuild this summer
My point is clearly we cannot wait, recruitment needed to start weeks ago otherwise next season will be a disaster no matter which league we are in.

Re: Darrell Clarke pre-Carlisle
I would like to see Bonds back in tonight to replace Kinsella. give us a solid base and allow Sercombe or maybe Thomas to play the attacking role with more freedom because they are our best hope of a goal.

Re: SCOUTING
Regarding Thomas I suspect his move was at least partially influenced by the fact our former chairman has been a sponsor down at Bath and been quite involved with the club. It seems we didn't pay a big fee for him either.

Re: Squad rebuild this summer
Max Harris will replace Southwood, surely? If he's going to step up it has t be next season or likely never. And JP has said he is very highly thought of at the club. That would mean Pardington steps up to no.2 and we essentially "save" Southwards wage for investment elsewhere (as Southwo...

Re: Squad rebuild this summer
The problem we face is that if we lose players like Freestone, Bonds and Lloyd then financially we will struggle. They came up with us from League Two and will still be on wages closer to the League Two level. But to replace them with proven League One equivalents will mean players who want wages c...

Re: Squad rebuild this summer
Jury is still out on recruitment since MM left. I personally don't think we can just rely on DC's little black book this summer, and I hope we've been doing so serious leg-work during the season. It's harder and harder to find hidden gems as all teams have extensive scouting networks so we need to ...

Re: Squad rebuild this summer
We all seem to expect Southwood will move on, but GK no.1 spots are notoriously difficult to find - there are only 92 in the Football League, after all. Any rumours out there about where he might go? Any Championship or League One clubs need a keeper? Is he better than what they've already got or c...

Re: SCOUTING
I'm sure Micky Moore had a team our scouts under him, whether they went with him to Shrewsbury or not I don't know. The cynic in me suspects we didn't scout a lot of our signings last summer so they probably did.

Squad rebuild this summer
No matter which league we are in, although if we go down I suspect we will see more turnover, this summer is going to be massive for us. We have a large amount of players out of contract and I suspect most will be let go and there are others under contract which I feel the manager may be willing to ...

Re: Fleetwood Town v Cheltenham Town
Carlisle drew their last game at home to Stevenage, they will likely also be relegated next weekend so right before playing us which probably isn't good for us. I hadn't realised Stevenage scored a 96th minute equaliser in that game! Last time we played Carlisle in April the result secured our prom...

Re: Shrewsbury big loss
Just a personal view - it is probably the case that a lot of Championship / League 1 / League 2 Clubs factor in money expected to be cascaded from the Premier League, hence running up some level of debt (not all of the debt, as that would likely constitute serious mismanagement for whatever reason)...

Re: Former CTFC chairman backs the Robins Trust
Is this PB backing out of the club? i dont think anybody can criticise PB and his contribution to CTFC. Like everybody else he is getting older and probably wants to relax and enjoy time with his family without the 24-7 stress that no doubt CTFC will give him. That's a weird response he hasn't been...

Not sure I would ever want to see the day the trust own the majority of the club. Being third largest shareholder should be enough we need benefactors like Keswick and Jennings for their financial support because the trust cannot provide that level of help.

This sounds to me like the trust have bought the shares at a discounted rate from Mr Baker, was there no option of a rights issue so the money went into the club?

Very little loyalty in football, his work rate this season has been very good but you can't hide the fact he has only scored two goals all season. I would have liked to have kept him to compete for a spot in our front two but will be interested to see who takes a chance on him.

Re: Barnsley v Cheltenham Town
Agree about Sercombe, he's the midfielder who can arrive late in the box, Pett/Bonds/Kinsella are just never doing that so our goal threat reduces a lot without him. We are also missing physicality up top, Nuttal is a long way short of what we need, Goodwin/Street would bully defenders and cause spa...

That said the clubs with the larger squads will undoubtedly include their U-23 squads which only the bigger clubs will operate at this level. The clear outlier their is Fleetwood who invested ...

Connor Wickham was probably the only tried and tested league one footballer that was out there and given he has gone to Charlton (who tripled Alfie's wages) I doubt he was anywhere near our wage structure. Could we try again for Joe Doodoo though? RCS - I don't believe teams like Shrewsbury or Cambr...

Sorry Si ,but I respectfully question what you say. Finding 21k shouldn't be beyond a National League club let alone a L1 club, so to say we might become insolvent is scaremongering. Yes - we're only in with a Scooby due to Darrell Clarke. If he goes, then many others go with him - Pett/Sercombe/Taylor/Ferry/Long. Davies/Southwood/Bonds/Lloyd/Harrop are probably worth a punt at this level - maybe Keena needs better/more creative players around him than we have and then he'll ge...
