We need to receive a very good fee for us to be looking at a better quality of player. A decent player for us on a free and signing a 2 year deal would alone soak up 200k. Re: Goodwin
We don't need to sell. If we do then we need a replacement ready to go and players are not exactly running to WR at present. Got to keep a eye on the board, because I don't trust them after the Alfie debacle. We do need to sell to raise funds for the experienced players DC wants to help keep us up....

Re: Goodwin
If his agent had a release clause written into his contract , which is likely, he'll be choosing which club suits him best and it sounds as if the valuation has been met. Take a likely sell on clause of 20ish per cent payable to Stoke into consideration and we'll be looking for another unpolished d...

Re: Goodwin
The only logical explanation for selling Goodwin is that the board are resigned to relegation. Does anyone know a realistic figure of how much relegation would cost the club? Would his sale offset this cost? Even if Goodwin doesn’t score another goal this season we could still sell him in the summe...

Re: Bolton Wanderers v Cheltenham Town
What happens or has happened at other games seems to me to be irrelevant. This game was abandoned because of a serious medical emergency that resulted in the death of a supporter, with the agreement of the officials and both teams, and I suggest the support of the vast majority of people both at the...

Re: League One - clubs in crisis
Strong rumours that Reading are close to going down the plughole. Catering staff at the training ground have left and players are eating microwave meals. Office staff are sat in coats because the heating has been switched off. And the club are planning a January firesale of players to help pay the ...

Re: getting hacked off
given the relative stature and history of clubs like Portsmouth, Derby, Bolton, Charlton and to a lesser extent, Reading, they shouldn't be dropping points to the likes of Cheltenham. But, ha ha, they are....and that's the beauty of a meritocratic league system.. Long may it continue. Roll on Bolton...

Re: Cheltenham Town v Portsmouth
When are we going to stop giving away fans half the CF stand in these 'big' games when we could easily sell the seats to our own fans? Because the thinking will be Portsmouth Derby at least will sell all their entire allocation. Less likely home fans. That will be thinking, not saying I agree with ...

Re: David Bloxham on Adam Murray exit
Perhaps it's because Glos Live will get more views than the official website. I'm not aware of anyone who regularly checks the official site, but I know a good few who read stories on Glos Live. From a purely professional stance airing what could be seen as 'dirty laundry' on an official site is no...

Re: David Bloxham on Adam Murray exit
Seemed a big deal for a fair few matches. You have to wonder what they were pai g the man if they had to offer such a raise + a bonus, to try and keep him. We do seem to always be behind the curve. Pay folk a competitive wage to try and stop them looking elsewhere. Is my opinion They did, he accept...

Re: Adam Murray
Absolutely spot on Si Robin. Same mistakes have been allowed to happen last summer and the one before it yet nothing learnt. This just doesn't happen at other clubs at this level and in my view is just a symptom of having an amateur board with no CEO or accountability, it breeds complacency at the ...

Re: Adam Murray
The only issue I have is that he's gone and we've got nothing in return for it. His contract was a standard working contract and not the same as what DC is on. The real question is, do we want to keep giving backroom staff standard working contracts which requires them to work a notice period (maki...

Re: Adam Murray
Why the panic about Murray going? There are plenty of decent coaches out there and I’m sure Darrell will have already highlighted some suitable replacements. I’d just like to say thank you to Adam Murray for his valued work here and wish him well at his new Club. Where he’s going represents zero th...

Re: Adam Murray
Of course there's accountability. Like in any other business, the directors are accountable to the shareholders, of which the Trust is a major one. Trust members can make our views known to the board via the FED. Non members can join the trust and do the same.

Re: The Standard
Around six at L1 standard is frankly all we can hope for given our budget. Probably more than we could realistically expect. It then comes down to the club's football management, coaching and leadership. Ward and Duff had it, Downing and Elliott less so although kept us up. Cotterill jumped ship bef...

Most interesting line - "we have seven board members, who all work very hard, most of them as volunteers".
So some are paid. Who? Is it / are they fulltime position(s)?
