Was sent some fascinating images from the Echo in January 1934, when the Robins faced Blackpool in the FA Cup third round.

I found them fascinating (probably says a lot about me!)

It is interesting some of the phrases used such as "Northern Fastness" referring to Carlisle and there "were gay and animated scenes in the streets" which has a much different meaning today.

Also a bit confusing with Robins coming out at 2:37 and the kick-off was prompt at 2:30!

I often used to chat to Harry Jones who played in that match,he drank in the liberal club,but i never persuaded him to let me have the programme unfortunately.I believe Paul Godfrey has one ?

Here is the report from the match: http://bit.ly/1934CTFCReport" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Also some pictures from our archives - regrettably we don't have any showing the whole Athletic Ground.

Worth noting that a subsequent edition posted a story about how Cheltenham looked great in their "red and white hooped shirts and black knickers."

The thing that has struck me is, if you read it in an American accent, it's basically how the Yanks commentate today.

"Blackpool bust away on the left"
"Blackburn plied Payne with another nice pass but the movement broke down at Knight"
"Davis played a great game for the Town"

Motion that we call CTFC "The Town" more often. Well, more than never.
