Good to see Boyle back. Good chance for Danny Wright to get a few.

Starting Wright after he got subbed in 20 minutes for being awful. Hmm have to see how that works- Love wrighty but think he should have started on the bench today. Would love him to score and prove me wrong though

Graham injured and against Newport we need a big manpaperboy wrote:...having signed several strikers it's a concern that DW is still considered the best option.

was thinking that with a srrong wind, we should forego a big striker and go for skill and keep ball on the deckRegencyCheltenhamSpa wrote:Graham injured and against Newport we need a big manpaperboy wrote:...having signed several strikers it's a concern that DW is still considered the best option.

With Graham injured we don't have another big man so Pell has to do it.

If you go along with the 'we need a big man' theoryRegencyCheltenhamSpa wrote:With Graham injured we don't have another big man so Pell has to do it.

Yup. Not saying I support the tactic, just that it's the one obviously being deployed.confused.com wrote:If you go along with the 'we need a big man' theoryRegencyCheltenhamSpa wrote:With Graham injured we don't have another big man so Pell has to do it.

which is worse: -
Being subbed after 20 mins and a forward put back on to replace you
or
being subbed after 45 mins and a midfielder taking your place ?

Think im going to stop predicting us to win now though. We just can't score a goal can we?

sad thing is, I am now back in the mode where I do not expect us to win

I agree. Pell up front. Kids and loans being thrown in. Not seen the club in this state so early in the season.Nham68 wrote:Need to give it 2-3 more games : a back to back win and life is very different at this, stage. If by 10 games you're on 5-6 points, then the alarm bells ring loud. I give it 2-3 more games before judging...

Lol. Del Boy is as anti-Johnson as they come. The sarcasm oozed from his postdrgm wrote:I'll have some of whatever you're on!
Gary is no longer the manager he once was.

First half played ok but not ruthless enough or maybe lucky enough in front of goal. Second half hopeless, Pell up front never worked or looked like working, Hinds given 10 mins. GJ got things wrong second half but several need to do a lot more. Lack of leadership or ability to create enough. Newport solid but not spectacular and well organised.
Hard to see where the improvement can come from.

Rubbish! I have severe doubts about Gary's ability to motivate the team. I'm also not sure if the team is good enough to survive.
I am a supporter of GJ and don't think it's time for him to leave just yet, but he must see that Pell is not the answer up front. I actually thought Wright had a very good first half, won almost everything and started most of our attacks so it was strange to see him taken off. So yes the tactics weren't great tonight but let's not forget we had a load of great chances to score particularly early first half and right at the end and it's down to the players to convert those, not GJ. Not sure what's happened to Holman but I'm sure he'd have buried a few of those chances...

Too soon to be discussing this, however I am becoming a bit unhappy with selections of the team. I don't get to see training every week but some of the selections are just baffling. Doesn't matter how well we perform if we can't score to save our life.
And lets say we sack him tomorrow. Who would you lot even want to replace him?

Will wait to hear the rationale around the half time changes before making any judgement. However, short of DW having a broken leg, this seems particularly odd. I am sure if we looked among the free agents we could find some very tall people we could play up front? Ok they might not be forwards, a million to one chance but it might just work!!! Swamped with forwards none of which seem able to score, no matter how many chances. Never mind the quality, feel the width
