Interesting article. Just for the record, I don't think this season has been an absolute shocker (taken points off all the major contenders), just a bit of a damp squib.......we all see the potential, just this article shows it can be done despite a small budget

Summer recruitement is key, as well as keeping hold of Winnie & a few other key players. What do we think about 2 year contracts and stability as oppossed to our usual June/July upheaval...........

Helps when you are located close to one of the biggest centres of population with about 20 pro clubs providing a glut of players for you without having to put them up in hotels or rely on them sharing lifts.

Wouldn’t say Birmingham and Bristol are miles away.

Which is why we have three loans from City. And was too far for Stoz with petrol costing him too much without being able to carshare.

This from Stoz was disrespectful to many of the fans
Say he was on £600 per week thats £30K per year
Lots of people commute to or from Birmingham and earn a lot less than £30K/year
I bet Storer was on more than £600/ week

If he honestly believed it was too expensive just wait till he has to get a real job!!!!!

20 miles... maybe an hour by bicycle.

Just checked google maps, 40 minutes ;)

Still doesn't alter the basic point of the article.

It isn't impossible....................it CAN be done, irrelevant of our apparent isolation (I'm from Manchester & assure you, Accrington is out in the sticks).

Good luck to em I reckon, hopefully we can emulate next year.................

Not just Accrington both Exeter and Wycombe are challenging on similar budgets to ours.

What this demonstrates is that almost anything is possible in League 2 with a decent squad and a sizeable dose of luck. It is fair to say that we have not had the best of luck with injuries this season.

There is always a fine line between success and failure. On their day, the Robins have proven that they can compete with the best in this division. However, lack of consistency has been a problem, along with an inexplicable inability to beat mediocre opposition at home. Poor set piece play has also been a major factor (at both ends of the pitch), together with a tendancy to be 'bullied' by more physical opposition. These are matters that can be addressed and hopefully, combined with some decent recruitment and better luck with injuries, will enable the club to challenge at the right end of the league next season.
