If Marlon Pack signs for Cardiff as suggested in the Echo a sell on might be heading our way if we did the original deal properly.
There is no expiry date on a sell-on clause. When Les Ferninand moved from QPR to Newcastle, he had been there for 8 years and Hayes still got a share of the profit.Shade wrote:He's been there 6 years hasn't he? Would be surprised if we get anything after that long.

Are there secondary sell ons as well?
According to JP, we took £100,000 from City when Pack signed from them and now get 20% of £750,000-£100,000 assuming a £750,000 sale
i.e. £130,000
Supposing in two years time, Cardiff sell Pack for £1.75 million and Bristol City have a 20% sell on clause, they would get a further £200,000 - are we then entitled to 20% of that (i.e. £40,000)?

Leo is correct. JP explained (in the link he posted on his own thread about this) that the sell-on is 20% of the profit. So £750,000 is what they sold him for, minus the £100,000 they paid us in compensation, equals £650,000 profit (£750,000-£100,000 as Leo wrote in his post). 20% of £650,000 is £130,000.andgarod wrote:did you get A level maths Leo or is the missing £20k your agents commissionleohoenig wrote:Are there secondary sell ons as well?

JP also confirmed on Twitter that we also get 20% of any additional payments. So if the deal does rise to £4m we will be due to 20% of £3.35m, or £670k.
Every little helps but £130k probably doesn't go too far in today's world on it's own. Would be interesting if we get 20% of the add ons but again like the Eisa deal you can never be sure if we will see them so cannot plan for that yet.
Am I right in thinking we've made around £600,000 this summer from transfers without actually selling any players this window? £200k from Eisa from Bristol City, another £150k or so on his sale to Posh, £150k from Luke THomas moving to Barnsley and now £130k with the Pack transfer, this on top of the £800k we got last summer as the initial payment for Eisa, not bad to for two summers.

What isn't clear is whether it's £4million guaranteed phased through installments or £750,000 with the rest dependant upon appearences/promotion etc. Fees at the higher level are often inflated with the add ons. I can't imagine Cardiff paying £4million guaranteed for Pack but would love to be wrong.little mo wrote:Robin, where in that article does it mention add ons? It says the fee is 4m payable in instalments, which is normal practice for most transfers. When i went to school 20% of 3.9million was 780k.
Seems extremely clear to me, Robin:Robin wrote:What isn't clear is whether it's £4million guaranteed phased through installments or £750,000 with the rest dependant upon appearences/promotion etc. Fees at the higher level are often inflated with the add ons. "The Bluebirds agreed a £4m deal with the Robins for the 28-year-old, who had been at Ashton Gate since a 2013 move from Cheltenham Town. Cardiff have paid £750k to £1m up front for Pack, and the Robins will receive the rest of the money in installments."
£4m, in instalments. Nothing about add-ons at all.
I feel like we've been screwed over by City a little with Eisa, and will feel more so when we get 0% of his next transfer fee from Peterbrough of £8m

Whatever it is the money will be a nice pot to be used as needed. Why not be positive about it.

If Mo Eisa triggers all of his many clauses at Peterborough, Cheltenham stand to receive some extra cash from Bristol City.
Cheltenham just didn't get anything for the initial payment from Peterborough as it was no more than Bristol City paid for him last summer, it's only a percentage of the profit made (same as Pack)
