Much better for away travel, so a good one for us. The team can probably do some light training and a team lunch etc before getting on the bus, rather than having an early morning start.

More confident of a win now than I would be with a 12:30 kick off. (I assume we wouldn’t stay overnight).

Plus Crawley are away at Bradford tonight so they have less than three days recovery, whilst we go in to the game with six days recovery.

And gives us an extra night’s recovery before our game the following week.

Couldn’t have worked out better!

Interesting we are the only game in League 2 now being played Friday.
All the others games are on Saturday still, kick off at 12.30, apart from one at 17.30.
Wonder how that came about? You would have thought Crawley would have wanted the extra day?

Maybe Duff showed a bit of gumption. E.g. Maybe because Crawley are one of the few sides with nothing to play for Duff and the Club may have spotted an opportunity and persuaded Crawley to help us out given there is more riding on the game for us. Crawley’s players get a Saturday with the family now so probably don’t mind.

And it worked perfectly in the other fixtures where there would have been reluctance to move..

Bolton play Tuesday so wouldn’t want to bring Saturday’s game at Grimsby forward, and Grimsby wouldn’t want to do Bolton any favours so would opt for the 12.30.

Newport play Tuesday so wouldn’t want to bring Saturday’s home game against Cambridge forward to Friday, but would also want Cambridge to make an early start or overnight stay.

Tranmere play Tuesday so wouldn’t want to bring the game forward to Friday. Likewise Morecambe.

I have no theory as to why Colchester is kicking off at 17.30, unless they think fans will be watching West Ham at 12.30 and want to maximise IFollow numbers.

Colchester wanted the kick off at FGR moved to 5:30pm so that they could travel over on the day rather than have to stay overnight the night before. Assume Walsall enquired the same.

Fair enough. Given Colchester had previously requested the same, then it would have been poor form for them to reject Walsall’s request. Good to see some standards being upheld.
