Just caught the end of a review of Best TV of 2018 on the radio and it set me thinking. Here's mine:
1. My Brilliant Friend. If you avoided it because it's in Italian with subtitles, slap yourself around the face and be a grown-up. Can't wait for series 2!
2. Killing Eve. Mainstream TV but really good, really funny. Waaay better than the over-hyped The Bodyguard that it followed, I thought.
3. Billions. Easily the best thing on Sky Atlantic when there's no GoT in the year.
4. The Good Fight. I really thought I'd not like this spin-off from The Good Wife simply because it focused on characters I wasn't really interested in from the original - but I was surprised by how good it is. Some of the Trump-based news stories that Diane 'hears' on the TV whilst she tripping are gold!
5. The Americans. Loved this from the very beginning and the final series didn't disappoint, neatly tieing up more loose ends then I thought possible. Surely there's scope for a one-off feature-length episode to see what happens in the immediate aftermath?
Thoughts? Apart from "You watch too much TV", of course.

I do have Prime. Not got round to Man in the High Castle, though. Read the book a few years ago and wasn't thrilled. I gather the series expands on the original novel somewhat, though.
My discovery of the year has been Outlander - though I've only watched season 1, so far.

Just watching S3 of The Man In The High Castle. It was so long between S2 and 3 that I saved it and intended to watch it all over xmas, but I've only got to the end of episode 4. It's good, though. I did finish the third season of The Good Place over xmas, though.
I think my favourite from 2018 was possibly The Deuce season 2 on Sky Atlantic. It's VERY adult, set in 1970's/80's Manhattan and the main couple of characters are a barman who gets the chance to run his own bar thanks to the local mafia man thinking he's reliable, and a prostitute that sees the emerging porn market as her ticket off the streets. Lots of prostitution, murder, dirty cops, etc, that filled the streets there at that time. If you can stomach that kind of thing, it's well worth a watch.
2019 is all about the finale of Game of Thrones.
