"Cheltenham Town looking at a forward on trial, decision likely next week "

https://twitter.com/JonPalmerSport/stat ... 3626101080

The deadline day darren twitter feed guy seemed confident Connor Wickham was in the building

Could be putting 2 and 2 and making 8

"might just" doesn't smack of confidence, more hope over expectation.

And the first reply to JP's post is 'just needs to be better than Nuttall'. Ffs let's at least give the guy a few games before coming out with that sort of rubbish.

I doubt some of the names being banded about would consider joining us for the wages we offer or even think they’d have to stoop to having a trial.
Probably it’s another unknown.
But you never know.

Probably is another unknown but those free agents who haven't had a club since the summer must be getting pretty sweaty now. Thats a long old time to not be playing football and not being paid because of ego and pride.

apart from the unlikely Wickham and the absolutely no chance Gayle, anyone any ideas as to who it might be realistically?

Well he must be a free agent , so that should narrow the list (or overseas)

As he's also on trial, I'm guessing he's a free agent.
I think the registration periods are aligned across UEFA.

It's Aiden Keena.

He'll be found guilty.

Sorry!

Looks as if he hasn't really been given a chance at Championship level and 23/0 at Morecambe whilst scoring a few in L2 might mean that this is a signing for next year if we go down?🤔

Surprised we are after another wide man. Maybe when we go 4 3 3 to chase a game. Or 4 2 4. Hows a wide man from the start going to work?

My post from Tuesday :-
“Another possibility is/was Wes McDonald who did well for DC at Walsall. Played against us wide left when we won 2-1 up there four years ago. He’s currently a free agent.”

I was trying to remember where I'd heard that name recently. Good shout Fuller.

I remember McDonald having lots of pace something we don't really have so I'd welcome that.

Partick fans were glad to see him go, 4 appearances from the bench, then released. I do think we have enough players in the squad that we are hoping DC can breathe life into.

Christian Norton had lots of pace...

Darrell is a dog lover I reckon and likes bringing home stray dogs to train and cuddle.

Pardon the pun but this policy could come back to bite him if things take a downward turn.

Crikey now I'm trying to recall that woman who had a tv show training dogs decades ago!

I pass Geoff Hurst most mornings on my early morning walk around Pittville Park. I remember him scoring a lot of goals. I wonder if I had a word ...............

Just offer him a 2 and a half year contract, that could swing it.
Drifting off topic, if I was Sercs I'd be thinking " I'm 33, can I have a two year extension please"

After all the goals he's scored against Pompey surely they would be in for him?😂

I have a sense that if we do drop, Sercs will leave us.

Unless Exeter stay up and offer him a deal I suspect he stays here one more year to finish his career. He seems settled in Bristol so unlikely to be looking to move so it's us or Newport who pay lower and are perenial relegation battlers inleague 2.

5th, 11th, 15th in their last three seasons. Currently 13th with money in the bank from playing Man U on TV, and 52% of the club has recently been sold to the guy who bankrolled Swansea to the Premier League.

We don't need someone else to sit in the stand. Last weekend we had Freestone,Bradbury,Olyinka, Sloggett,Horton plus the eighteen. We also have Sambu,Liggett ,Walters and Willcox trying to progress. Smith and Thompson left because they were not starting. Many more and grumbling will increase.

But Olayinka and Horton know they're not in the plans, the kids know they're not getting a game this season, and none of those mentioned "first teamers" are forwards. Another injury to one of our attackers and we're light again.

Sorry, I forgot King. Despite the " not in plans" and not old enough cliches they are all getting paid and should be part of the team squad. My point is that is being eroded. A few weeks ago the Manager was looking for signings to come in to the eleven. Now we have Thomas another wide player would struggle to get on the bench.

DC said it would be on non-contract terms, whoever it is / was. I can't recall the last time we had a player on non-contract terms.

Probably in our Southern League days! Half the squad were non-contract back then, could come and go as long as seven days notice of approach was given.
Actually just thinking during John Ward’s reign we had a lad called Tommy Manship who I think was non-contract?
