Afternoon all,
Some news to share from the Robins Trust, regarding the acquisition of more than 150,000 Cheltenham Town shares from former chairman Paul Baker.

Former CTFC chairman backs the Robins Trust
Moderators: Admin, Ralph, asl, Robin
hmm it will all be in the detail
Baker was never keen for the trust although it did start while he was chairman
He said a place on the board was £100000 but when the trust had £200000 approx (thank you Bryan Jacobs) the price went up to £200000
Bakers influence might be declining but the current chairman and him are still very good friends

Disagree, Andgarod.
Paul was a champion and a supporter of the Trust from Day One.
Regarding Bryan's legacy, we put three options to the membership. One of those was to invest nothing, one was to make a £100,000 investment, and the final was to make the £200,000 investment.
As it came at a time when the club was relegated out of the League, it was vital to give the club as much financial assistance as it could. That money, as Paul will I am sure say himself, was crucial in bouncing back to the Football League at the first time of asking.
Paul's place in CTFC's history is secured - it was so before this. He could have chosen an alternative route. That he didn't, and chose to work with supporters, is a mark of the man, IMO.

I sat next to a friend (no longer with us) who asked ( I think Baker) why it had suddenly gone from £100K to £200K to get a FED.
I agree there were options but the club chairman said the only option for an FED was £200K

Brilliant news. Well done to everyone in the Trust. I'm sure loads of unseen work went on in the background to get this over the line. Exactly the sort of fan commitment that makes football what it is in this country. Terrific.
Funny, I've wondered that a couple of times when I noticed Baker's Mobile Home Insurance (or whatever the company name was) no longer has an advertising board on the PRE. Maybe it's just moved and I haven't spotted the new one. Maybe that doesn't mean anything. Maybe we're just idly speculating...
"That survey saw 64% of respondents rate the current cycling provision as either poor or very poor.
That led to a working party of the Trust board to carry out in-depth research because nearly four in five (79%) said that improved provision would make them at least consider cycling to games."
Malabus' numerous votes clearing driving this... but still all good for me. Still a long way to cycle form Plymouth - but the covered bike rack will now give me the incentive.

Why assume motives when they are explained clearly by Mr Baker?
That's a weird response he hasn't been chairman now for a number of years but his best mate is the new chaiman and the speculation is he still pulls those strings.bigdavejambo wrote: ↑28 Mar 2024, 08:55i dont think anybody can criticise PB and his contribution to CTFC. Like everybody else he is getting older and probably wants to relax and enjoy time with his family without the 24-7 stress that no doubt CTFC will give him.
No corner of the internet is safe from the numerous wild conspiracy theories.
Report: Man does something good for fans of the football club that he served incredibly well for a couple of decades as chairman.
Fans: WHAT'S HE UP TO??? HE'S ONE OF THE LIZARD PEOPLE!
