Re: Shrewsbury big loss
1. Some of [Shrewsbury's £3m] loss would have been down to Agents fees; I gather about a third of Shrewsbury’s loss was down to Agents fees . The amounts paid to Agents by each club has recently been released. It’s eye watering. During Season 2022/23, STFC signed 4 x players on a permanent transfer...

Re: Shrewsbury big loss
The problem is that there is no restriction on losses in L1 and 2. Only the Salary Cap Management Protocol applies which only requires clubs to pay wages up to a certain % of turnover. They can rack up as much debt as they like. Seems to me like FFP needs to be extended down the divisions. The reas...

But as has been said before, Man City have 116 charges, not just a couple like Everton and Forest. It's obviously going to take a lot longer to go through 116. It takes solicitors a bloody age to do anything, no matter how much they're paid. And there's no point in just docking them points/demoting...

Meanwhile the FA have rejected a request from the Northern League, who've had 20% of fixtures postponed due to waterlogged pitches this season, to extend the season. On the whole not a bad day, even Exeter within our own hands Was at Exeter v Fleetwood on Saturday. ECFC were ok in the first half (1-0 up at H-T), but had little or nothing in the final third. Fleetwood were beyond woeful. At H-T, FTFC manager Charlie Adam made 4 substitutions and it worked - for ...

Re this hotel suggestion, as an outsider looking in, I have to say that even if Cheltenham doesn't already have enough* hotels, I really cannot see how Whaddon would be a good location (no harm to the good people of the locality). Sudeley Arms re-opening as the Airs and Graces (new owners)
Coming from the town centre to Whaddon Road, the Sudeley Arms is (I think) the last pub on the way/closest to the ground. I've noticed that it has been shut this season, though in truth, the only time I was in it (3 years ago?), I wasn't impressed. Anyhow it has been taken over by the Dodo pub group...

It won’t please people to hear, but the travails of the Shire sides discussed in this thread make the case for a Gloucester-FGR merger even stronger. Yet another link to Sligo. Hopefully he's not just looking for another managers job, like Murray. Have to say, I'm quite surprised we will have a former international manager as a number 2! Ms. Cooper is 86. At that age probably everything is "better than sex". You know, like sorting out the recycling, cleaning out the cat's litter tray, or rearranging your sock drawer. Unless, of course, she has (yet) another book to promote and so feels obliged to provide second-rate journa...

Ipswich are a mad comparison anyway. English League Champions, FA Cup winners, UEFA cup winners. Their heritage is on a different planet to us. The majority of football fans, about 2/3 in most surveys, support their team because of family links: A parent, grandparent usually. It's passed down. Only...

For this reason I've always been impressed with where Cheltenham are as a club - to be in the 3rd tier of English football despite not being a traditional football area and a smallish town to boot is very impressive.
