Re: Done deal
Pictures and intro video now on OUFC official site. Interestingly also says 'Goodwin has been recovering from a minor quad injury and will complete his rehabilitation with the club’s medical team before joining the squad for full training at the end of the month' so looks like he wouldn't have been ...

Re: Referee for Carlisle
Anyone know if the frost covers are on? It was -5 last night and forecast to drop to -7 tonight. Things will warm up (relatively speaking) through Friday and overnight into Saturday, but that will be a deep frost in the ground. Not certain that it will thaw in time. Yes the covers have been on acco...

Re: Done deal
The bottom line for me is 'Is Darrell Clarke OK with this deal and does he feel he can work around it'? If yes, then fine, if not then that could be very bad for us in the long run even if £400k + add ons is a reasonable deal financially.

Re: Goodwin
On the face of it, it will be very disappointing to lose a player who is just finding his feet in League 1 and could go on to be a very good player for us and score the goals to keep us up and take us forward. However, 16 games and 6 goals is a really small sample size for clubs to judge a player a...

Re: Goodwin
Being reported that a figure has been agreed at £400k. If it's that plus add-ons, then even taking into account a sell on to Stoke, it's a hell of a profit on a lad who's been decent for 6 months. And Darrell can do some wheeling and dealing with a much bigger pot. Agreed. And he has missed about 1...

Getting fed up with hearing about players and staff leaving. We need to build, not fire fight. Inclined to agree, but we're a tiny fish in a big pond. The big boys will eat us for breakfast, but that doesn't mean we should lay down and take it. I thought this was the whole reason behind signing the...

Re: Goodwin
".....they are not the only League One club chasing him" let's hope something materialises from this. My uninspired guess would be Bristol Rovers JP has just tweeted that another club interested is Oxford. Personally think the club could persuade him to stay till the summer, keep us up an...

Re: Goodwin
If Goodwin goes I doubt the board would splash the cash. It’s not in the club’s DNA. When Gillespie and Eisa left for decent transfer fees we never signed a high profile striker for a chunk of the money, that goes into the long term running costs of the club. Agreed. Some may be used to make slight...

Re: Goodwin
The other thing to consider is that Charlton seem to be throwing cash around like it's going out of fashion at the moment with no discernible influx of investment or improvement on the pitch. I know they were taken over last summer but their debt appears to have been around £20m at that time and wag...

Re: Missed out
With Curtis Thompson missing through injury today and Brandon Liggett going out on loan you have to think we must be close to bringing a midfielder in at least otherwise we are desperately short of bodies here.

Re: Tom Pett's story so far
Yes great interview but sounds like location would be a problem for him to stay beyond this season. Perhaps one uneducated question who is likely to earn more a male league one footballer at Cheltenham a female player in the WSL? I have no idea but maybe that could help us keep him. Edit. I just ch...

Re: Rumour Mill
From what I recall, Conlon isn’t an out and out CAM such as Callum Wright. But he is skilful and can pick a pass. I wouldn’t describe him as a purely defensive midfielder either. Maybe somewhere in between? So similar to Liam Sercombe then really? Would provide cover for Sercs and maybe the long te...

Re: Cheltenham Town v Portsmouth
Muddy knobbly field? The only mud was where the players scuffed it up pre match. You are quite right there are far worse pitches than ours. One thing that struck me though is that I don't remember the sprinklers being put on pre kick off and at half time like they have been over the last few season...

No Mendes-Gomes?! Great news. He always causes us problems. As for Dion Charles...be nice if he's gone but Colby Bishop didn't get much change out of us on Saturday and they've got almost identical records this season. Hopefully Curtis Davies has emptied his pockets. What a statement it would be if...

Re: Maybe not such a Tough Sheet next Saturday!
Bolton just had tough 90mins against Luton today. Long journey down to play Luton and travel back, Did they rest players for this? Looks to me they went pretty strong. I think they will be without Gethin Jones (Asia Cup) and Carlos Mendes Gomes (African Cup of Nations). Big Dan also not fit yet but...

Surprised me a bit that one and comes off the back of another couple of eye brow raising recent League 2 appointments with Karl Robinson to Salford and Steve Morison to Sutton. Amazing how quickly you can go from the 'new shiny thing' to the basement in football management. Duffer will have to be ca...

A real kick in the teeth just when there seemed to be light at the end of the tunnel. Aha! Thanks. I took those fixtures from the official site. In that case win at Burton, loss at Wycombe takes us to 50 points . Just goes to show that staying up is still a very realistic possibility if we can build on the recent form and get a few breaks in terms of incomings and avoiding injuries/...

Re: 2024
These are the games we have between now and the end of the season. With a slightly pessimistic head on I thought I’d have a stab at a realistic points return. I reckon we can expect to pick up 27 points from the remaining games, meaning 47 points in total. 46 kept Cambridge up last season. It’s goi...

Re: Darrell Clarke after defeat at Northampton
Deeney called his player out after five minutes in charge whereas DC has been in for three months now and seen the same player make the same mistake repeatedly, so maybe he has tried the behind closed doors, arm around the shoulder approach and now feels something a little bit harsher is needed to g...

Vale fans are adamant Tom Conlon is coming here - they have been since DC took over. Conlon I could only see if we sell Bonds, surely we don't need another defensive midfielder. Really disappointing result today. Just felt we were a bit 'leggy' and never really got going and their midfield didnt let Pett boss proceedings.
