Re: League One - clubs in crisis
As the Manager said a clay layer was not helping drainage at Seasons putting turf from Reading on top would not help 3G pitch would. And obviously we would need to sort the clay and drainage before any new turf or seed goes down - didn’t think it needed saying. ‘Sort the clay’? Like it’s that easy?...

Re: League One - clubs in crisis
Maybe we should make a bargain basement offer to buy Reading’s 3G training pitch and the turf from their other pitches to lay at Seasons. Would solve the issue of our pitches not being good enough to use and wouldn’t fall foul of their planning condition. As the Manager said a clay layer was not he...

Re: Gloucestershire football
It happened a few years ago in the Northern League when one team had about ten games in hand. They played Saturday-Tuesday-Thursday for about two months to finish the season on time. The only saving grace is that being such a regionalised league most players can make away games after work whatever d...

Re: Is 23 March still on
I think this game being delayed could be a blessing. By then we’ll know if we are relegated or if we are still battling. We will know exactly what we have to do. Peterborough should know if they are on the mid-table beach or still in the playoff hunt. We will know exactly what they are playing for, ...

Re: Barnsley v Cheltenham Town
We still have this continuing issue of strikers not scoring. Next game at Fleetwood we can't keep relying on the defence to get the points needed to stay up. Whilst I appreciate the effort and maybe a little bit of bad luck today for them, it has to change. Somehow. Can't keep saying hard luck afte...

Smallest squad in the league and carrying injuries to several key players is our biggest problem right now. That said the clubs with the larger squads will undoubtedly include their U-23 squads which only the bigger clubs will operate at this level. The clear outlier their is Fleetwood who invested...

Re: League One - clubs in crisis
There does seem to be an aloofness from Reading fans about the mess they're in. They seem to want to blame everyone and everything and unless it's helpful to them then you're the enemy. One guy on another forum has basically spent the last 24 hours completely slating Wycombe as if they've done it d...

Sky Sports News reported that the training ground was owned by a different company to the football club (both owned by Dai Yonge) so I guess he could just by a yacht.

I don’t get your comment RCS. All the results are going our way, just need Derby to beat Reading and it’ll be a clean sweep of perfect results! My comment was referring to the fact that FGR are winning, so at the time of writing they were outside of the relegation area and we were in the relegation...

Re: The rest of the season
Connor Wickham was probably the only tried and tested league one footballer that was out there and given he has gone to Charlton (who tripled Alfie's wages) I doubt he was anywhere near our wage structure. Could we try again for Joe Doodoo though? RCS - I don't believe teams like Shrewsbury or Camb...

Re: 16 years ago today
Thinking back to that game it’s amazing how much football has changed. Young defenders on loan these come as tall lean suntanned ball players, not like Keogh who looked like a weather beaten 40 year old when we signed him. I don’t think there’s space for players like Alex Russell in the EFL these da...

Re: The rest of the season
If the match fit league one striker capable of scoring 5 or 6 match winning goals in 9 games does just happen to be out there raring to go for £2-3k a game I expect we are trying to tie him down. I also expect Burton, Cambridge, Reading, Shrewsbury, Exeter and Wycombe are as well and may offer £3-4k...

Re: Darrell Clarke after Oxford United defeat
I think he will stay as he doesn't seem the type to jump ship when the going gets tough. I do think a few people on here and social media are unaware how tough next season could be. Only have to look at FGR to see losing can become a habit. Like L1 L2 is now littered with a lot of clubs splashing c...

Re: Darrell Clarke after Oxford United defeat
If we go down hopefully DC sees it as unfinished business. By the end of the season he will have had 34 or 35 games whilst our relegation rivals all had 46. He knows if he had 46 games we would have stayed up. I hope that means he wants to get us straight back up then keep us up to complete the job.

Re: Oxford United v Cheltenham Town
what does Clarke see in Nuttall? Given he has barely picked him until there was no other option, I suggest not a lot. why’s he at the club then? We needed a big striker with experience and probably signed the one we able to afford and who was willing to sign. Same we way we end up with most signings.

Re: Information for fans travelling to Oxford on Saturday
How is it being funded? Looks like it will mainly be relying on institutional finance, debt and private investment alongside any grants. “A budget north of £100 million has been set for the construction of the proposed stadium. Asked how the ground could be funded, Ferguson said: “We’ve got to have...

Re: Your pre match routine
Speaking of that consistent application of rules by stewards, at some games it’s perfectly fine to take beer from the sports bar to the concourse, at others there’s a steward stationed on the door rigorously enforcing the rule. Does it depend on whether the away fans have half the concourse? When h...

Usually staying with family on a match weekend. Goes one of three ways: 1. Walk to the ground from their house (about 40 mins) and use the time to catch up on the Robins Report podcast if I haven’t heard it yet. Get a Fanta from the canteen, nip to the loo, and in my seat for 14:45. 2. Lunch with fa...
