But the Liberal Fascists will rip it down piece by piece for they have so much hatred with anything promoting pride for the United Kingdom.

1. Why would ‘the Liberals’ hate Sir Tom?

2. ‘Liberal fascists’ is the definition of an Oxymoron.

3. Captain Tom literally fought for the liberal cause against fascism.

So apart from the incorrect and needlessly antagonistic nature of your post, yes, good idea - a statue would be a great memorial both for Tom, what he did for the NHS and the collective experience of the whole country during the pandemic (which you think is made up).

1. Because the fascists hate white heroes of the British commonwealth.

2. Socialist facists (Nazis) Socialism is a branch of Liberalism, unruly and believe that free thinkers should be eradicated.

3. Sir Captain Tom fought for freedom and national pride, which the lefttards detest with passion and probably organise another roit and smash in windows and loot.

I reckon we should move with the times and instead of having statues, commemorate through a hologram. Not only would it be unbreakable (and fun watching the British Rednecks try) but it could be a 'pop up hologram' also appearing at other places at other times. And we could give Sir Tom a break every so often by rotating our heroes and displaying the likes of Chris Whitty, Winston Churchill, Jenny Agutter etc. there from time to time.

You are not even making any sense. Let alone anything true or relevant.

How about, rather than disrespecting Captain Sir Tom with your deluded nonsense, you just, like everyone else, respect what an inspiration he was to the whole country, and how he really is a symbol of the Covid and lockdown experience the country faced and is facing.

Maybe fund the NHS appropriately so 100 year old men don’t need to walk around their back gardens to raise funds.

Wow, why did nobody ever think of that before. Anyone would think that it's not that simple...

You see, it takes an enlightened person like you, to be the first person since 1948, to think of that!!! Have you ever thought of mentioning this progressive idea to anyone else, apart from on here?

It’s a matter of choice.

The Tories don’t want it to succeed - they just want to outsource everything to their rich mates, i.e. selling it off.

Why else do you think they let it become such a shambles when they are in charge?

They seem to be able to magic up whatever sums of money they like during the pandemic, so surely they can find some more in the pot to properly fund the NHS too.

Who was it that introduced the independent sector treatment centres? Run by profit making private companies - Labour

Who was it that allowed the best NHS hospitals to apply for Foundation Trust Status, which freed them from public-service constraints to operate more like private businesses. - Labour

Thus deliberately inserting the private sector into the NHS and opened up the NHS to external competition.

Who was it that introduced the 'Any Qualified Provider', initiative? which allowed the private sector to undertake NHS work outside the ISTC programme. - Labour

Labour answer to try and cut waiting times etc, was to allow privatisation on mostly elective treatments. It is plain nonsense to say one party does good by the NHS while another doesn't.

With every year that passes, new treatments come along, with that more expense. AS we strive to keep the nation alive longer, it is becoming an older population, thus those the balance of those paying for your fully funded NHS and those using it more and not paying. Tips towards the not paying. ASs much as we all may love it, the NHS is a bottomless pit. Successive governments of every hue have tried to crack it and it has only got harder with every year as costs increase.

Maybe you should start walking round the garden or actually explain why you think Labour privatisation was the way to fund the NHS?

Time after time after time you read that the Tories are trying to sell the NHS or want it to fail, and the only reason I've ever seen that anybody can say why is to line their own and their mates pockets. And yet, as far as I'm aware, there is not a shred of proof. Anyone who tried to get rid of the NHS or sell it off completely would get lynched.

As Ihearye indicates, Labour have done it far greater damage over the years, yet it remains one of Labour's main arguments - that they will save the NHS whilst The Tories will destroy it. The country has been under Conservative rule considerably longer than Labour since the NHS was introduced and, amazingly, the NHS is still going. Even Evil Mrs Thatcher kept it going. Is it run as well as it could be? Probably not, but there's been a lot of people try and nobody has got it right yet.
