I definitely would as well. And wouldn't mind signing him either.

Gow would be an excellent signing for us upfront with cureton or direct replacement for mo.

Gow would be a good replacement for Mo. Bit injury prone, though.

How long until the first friendly? Must only be a few weeks now?

That should be the target for having the core of the squad in place.

7 weeks today til the season kicks off,no signings but plenty of time yet, although it would be nice to have the squad pretty much complete for the first pre season game!.
All just seems very quiet,nt really any rumours either.

It feels like ages since the season ended then we had a flurry of reported transfer actiity followed by two weeks of pure silence.

I note Bobby Grant has asked to leave Rochdale and everyone's favourite dodgy rumours site has already linked him with us. He'll command a fee though so I'd say this is unlikely.

I believe we can afford a fee for the right player but Grant is looking to move back to league and unlikely to up root to us for what is likely only a modest wage increase.

Now given the financial situation at Exeter Alan Gow may well be such a player we could justify a small five figure fee on.

Sorry Robin, overall Alan Gow isn't good enough for me. Worst player on the pitch at Exeter and being on the bench most of time suggests he is very average. Saying that he did look dangerous when him came on at WR last October.

Alan Gow, in my view, is the best inside winger in the division. He is on the bench mainly because of injuries, which is a concern. He was not the worst player on the pitch at Exeter either.

Heavy rumours of "personal issues" have followed him around, unfortunately.

Did nothing to convince me that he would fit into a "stronger Cheltenham Squad" for season 2013/2014.

Alan Gow has been heavily linked with Newport, as has Darren Purse.
Looks like they could be the promoted team splashing the cash this year.

I wouldn't touch any of the players Newport have signed so far or Darren Purse for that matter.

Totally agree with you Robin, I think they will be a nasty bunch to play against next season.

I think the chances of Gavin Williams signing are now in doubt considering he is rolling on 33 and Cureton is 37! I would like to see him sign, looked like a decent player who can cut it in League two. Would initially be ideal. 7 goals in league one isn't all bad.

Any more news on the FGR lad?

What FGR lad?
MarkHalliwell
I assume you mean James Norwood, but we won't be signing anyone from FGR.
They are all under contract and on better money than they will get by coming here.

Surely the temptation of playing in the football league and not having to relocate would influence him to sign, if we were interested.
MarkHalliwell
He has just signed a two year contract, and would command a large fee. What is the point of playing a large fee when there are a lot of decent free agents about??

Another Reece Styche, remember when every team under the sun wanted to sign him and yet he played 25 games last season and scored 5 goals. Of those 25 appearances, 8 were starts, although I believe he was injured during last season.

They an abundance of strikers who could do a job.

Your eyes would water at how much money they are on.

I thought we were in pole position for Luke Rooney but the longer it has drawn the more I think he wont be here next season

The problem with Rooney was/is the terms of the deal, Swindon want to sell/make it a permanent deal while we were interested in a long term loan. He is on a decent wedge at Swindle due to the Di Canio spending spree.

So who's next then? Striker, defender or midfielder
