Walking along, singing his song, we’re walking in a Russell wonderland.

His goal at Elland Road is one of the best footballing moments of my life.

And many of us that were there that night. Steve Brooker not being able to knock the ball in from 4 yards because it was stuck in the mud will also never be forgotten.

Even now when I picture that ‘miss’ I am convinced we will regret it and they will come back. Until I remember we had the unbreakable spine if Bird in midfield and Gallignah in defence.

Andy Gallinagh wasn't involved that night, team was: Higgs; J Gill, Keogh, Duff, Wright; Gillespie, Bird, Russell, Armstrong, Spencer (Vincent 83); Brooker (Connor 88). Subs not used: SP Brown, Lindegaard, D Agostino.

I don't remember the ball being stuck in the mud, rather Brooker just trod on it!

Oh, good, JP - that's how I saw it, too: Spence put it across the six yard box and Brooker couldn't possibly miss...until he stood on it.
