Would 42 points keep us up? Because, having looked at the fixtures and with the best will in the world,42 is the most I can see us getting. Trying not to be negative, just asking.

Based on the current points/game rate of the teams below us then sadly not. Both MK and Morecambe would end up on 44.5 points. Of course who knows what will happen to the form of all the teams in the last 15/16 games but I suspect we would need at least another 3 points from somewhere.

On current points per game they are below us…Morecambe have a point fewer from the same games, and MK a point fewer from one more game?

I think 5 wins may be enough, but the countdown thread is starting from 6.

Yes but the question was will 42 points be enough. On current ppg for the teams below us then no it isn't.

How do you define current?

The golden number will be higher imo.
48 maybe enough.

Whatever it is, it isn’t using the same definition as the league table

I know on current ppg they are below us but that wasn't the question. The question was if we only got 42 points total for the season would this be enough to stay up. So taking the current ppg for Morecambe of 0.966 (28 points from 29 games) that would project to 44.4 over 46 games, so more than 42. MK works out at 0.967 so 44.5 over 46 games, again more than 42 so we would not have enough to stay up.

Anyway, I said I think 3 more points than this were needed, so 45 points and you said another 5 wins so add 15 to our current 30 would total 45 points, so we are basically saying the same thing

Thank you WR. I was asking about the fixtures we have left, when i looked at them i can't for the life of me see any more than 42 points at most. What has happened before now does'nt matter a jot, surely.

Ah yes, makes sense. Apologies.

What we also both know is there will be twists and turns yet, and points dropped and gained in unexpected ways and places.

17 0-0 draws might be enough

After 30 games last season:
36 points
8 wins
12 draws
10 loses
36 scored
49 conceded
-13 GD.
We went on to get 20 points from the last 16 games (5 wins, 5 draws, 6 losses).

After 30 games this season:
33 points
9 wins
6 draws
15 losses
25 scored
36 conceded
-11 GD

I can’t see us picking up 20 points in the remaining 16 games (you never know) but we probably won’t be far off.

Priority is to score more, but I’d take 16 0-0s if you offered it!
