Hanks was a victim of the team being so poor in the 14/15 relegation season. I genuinely believe he could have gone on to have a great career at the club. If only we weren't such a mess at the time.RegencyCheltenhamSpa wrote: ↑22 May 2023, 19:23 Wrighty joined by Joe Hanks who returns to City. I agree Si. He gave 100% and was improving all the time.
Gary Johnson had an (almost) complete clear out of the players and the young ones were the biggest casualties.Si Robin wrote: ↑23 May 2023, 06:55Hanks was a victim of the team being so poor in the 14/15 relegation season. I think Gary realised that he had to maximise the budget on guaranteed first team players to give us any chance of going straight back up.
Which we did.

It all looked very rosy on the opening day at Bury, eh?Si Robin wrote: ↑23 May 2023, 06:55Hanks was a victim of the team being so poor in the 14/15 relegation season. From what I saw in the play-offs, he's still good enough for League 2. I take back what I said a few weeks ago.
Martin Riley continues his tour of the non-league fraternity by joining Halesowen's coaching team.
Noticed by coincidence that one of his old clubs and old adversaries of ours, Hednesford are in deep mire.

Brian Graham has just scored an absolute pearler of a volley in the play-off final against Ross County!

Mo Eisa mainly, wasn't it? So guess he was kind of overshadowed... I thought he was a decent replacement for Danny Wright. Remember the carnage when he scored the final equaliser in the (second in a row) 3-3 draw at Wycombe! Set up by Mo's outrageous foul on the fullback and brilliant cross..

Snap poll. Who’s your favourite:
Graham or Duffy.
Graham or Duffy.
Well, it has to be Duffy really, he had way more good moments for us. One that has been coming to mind recently, for obvious reasons, was away at Luton in the Cup when he got sent off and was reminding the home fans what the score was.
Brian Graham signed a two year contract with us in summer 2017 but Gary J put him on the transfer list after one season (along with Kevin Dawson, but he stayed for another season under MD.)
I remember BG missing a penalty at WR….I’ve never seen anyone so cross with themselves after that!

Hadn’t he had a row with the usual taker in order to take it and then promptly missed it.Fuller wrote: ↑02 Jun 2023, 17:26 Brian Graham signed a two year contract with us in summer 2017 but Gary J put him on the transfer list after one season (along with Kevin Dawson, but he stayed for another season under MD.)

Most boring name in football.
Him and Dawson still involved in the nags locally…

Really liked him, if only because the number of 20-somethings called Brian these days must be.....minimal.Fuller wrote: ↑02 Jun 2023, 17:26 Brian Graham signed a two year contract with us in summer 2017 but Gary J put him on the transfer list after one season (along with Kevin Dawson, but he stayed for another season under MD.)

Always remember how salty the Wycombe fans were after that, but I'm sure it's the same game that Akinfenwa barged Boyle over before scoring their 2nd/3rd goal - always evens itself outPCrobin wrote: ↑02 Jun 2023, 14:17Mo Eisa mainly, wasn't it? Yes, one of my favourite CTFC photos of all time.
And his late goals to turn it around vs Plymouth.
The Plymouth game was 29th October 2011. Remember it well. Plymouth were in a right mess then. Duffy scored a penalty on 83 mins and a brilliant finish for the winner in the 93rd minute. A Plymouth supporter was stood next to me in the Tunnel paddock and he was most upsetRegencyCheltenhamSpa wrote: ↑03 Jun 2023, 10:32Yes, one of my favourite CTFC photos of all time.

Always looked half knackered to me and that had the effect of making himself look disinterested.
But as we often go back for former loan players I wouldn’t be surprised if we offer him something.
Not only would he go missing in games, but when he would try he’d go over the top and end up getting booked.Fuller wrote:Always looked half knackered to me and that had the effect of making himself look disinterested.

He likes to run around after the ball for about 30 seconds and then just gives up.
