Leyton Orient v Cheltenham Town
Moderators: Admin, Ralph, asl, Robin
We just don’t have anyone who can put away the few chances that we make. We should have scored early on, bloody good chance but not taken……..and there’s yet another decent chance not taken!
Is there nobody in the Cheltenham League that can stick the ball in the net on a regular basis that we can borrow?

There's the issue in a nutshell. Lloyd with a straightforward chance on his favoured right foot and had about as much confidence as the rest of us had in him scoring, and weakly hit it to the keeper. Meanwhile Orient scored two from edge of the area.
It's got to be mental, hasn't it? How can a bunch of players be so pathetic at putting the ball in the net? At least two could have just been passed into the corner. Instead try to smash it and end up tapping it to the keeper.
How can you play over 90 mins of football and not get a shot on target. So poor. Why as someone mentioned play a midfield who were poor on Monday again with having a game next Tuesday, flogging a dead horse comes to mind. Should have left them for Tuesday and started with Harrop, Bonds and either Thomas or Olayinka. Why Olayinka not on the bench is strange. Have lost patience with Lloyd. Be glad to see him go. He will never be a striker. Almost lost patience with Keena as well. Our only hope is Matty coming back or someone producing some magic on Tuesday. Other teams losing and we still can't score. Suggest they sit and watch 5 hrs of Man City and see how they can create so many chances by playing relatively simple football. Useless performance.

We've had at least three shots on target. They've all just been weak and straight at the keeper. Lack of composure is baffling.1985CTFC wrote: ↑06 Apr 2024, 15:48 How can you play over 90 mins of football and not get a shot on target. So poor. Too many players having an off day. Long has been awful in all departments.

Started writing when BBC said no shots on target. Still poor showing. Might as well been zero shots on target for all the good it is.Shade wrote: ↑06 Apr 2024, 15:52We've had at least three shots on target. They've all just been weak and straight at the keeper. Our Modus Operdani seems to be that we never get out of the bottom 4, no matter what the other teams are doing and I now fear that will be the scenario for the remaining games.1985CTFC wrote: ↑06 Apr 2024, 15:48 How can you play over 90 mins of football and not get a shot on target. I wrote a couple of seasons ago, that whatever the question is, George Lloyd is not the answer and I still stand by that. My only hope is that DC decided to target Tuesday and go into today on a bit of a wing and a prayer
My worry now is Carlisle, already down, just turn up with absolutely nothing to lose and have their best game of the season on Tuesday.
Joe Nuttall. First of 6 between now and the end of the season.

Agree. If Thomas can’t handle 90 mins, give him 70 and get one of the shot-shy plodders on to finish the game.
Harrop seems to be the only one with a modicum of composure up top.

Keena and Nuttall up top for me. Or Nuttall with Harrop sitting off him.CTFCfan99 wrote:Tuesday I would go

I'd stick someone else at RB if we had any half decent alternatives.
We can’t rely on Lloyd to score a goal, even if given a clear chance.
Apologies for saying this again, but the time has finally come to ditch the Goalie on the bench and put a player who can provide an extra attacking option on the bench. Olayinka or even Tom King. Pardington isn't going to make or score a goal so no point having him there. Got to take a risk now. Have to win Tuesday or we are stuffed. We need maximum options if we have to chase the game.

Well, the next three games are make or break. Carlisle down and hopefully lacking motivation but regardless they are the worst team in the league so if we don’t beat them our task becomes almost impossible….. then Rovers with absolutely nothing to play for an hopefully on the beach…. then the biggest game of the season if we are still within touching distance. Burton have conceded four goals in their last two home games.
If we are not out of the relegation zone next Tuesday night it is just not going to happen.
