Thought I would introduce a 'nice' thread to this section. Recently, I went on a road trip to Edinburgh, which is in itself a wonderful city, but we stopped off at some glorious places along the way - including the Ribblehead Viaduct in the Dales, and Scott's View near Dryburgh in the Borders.

Apart from Cheltenham, which places have captured your imagination?

When I visited the Big Pit coal mine in Wales, the surrounding areas were quite pleasant.

One place I'll never forget is Luton, never want to return to that place.

Cornwall.

Absolutely love going to visit my mates who live down in Lanson as the locals call it, or Launceston if you're not from the area.
Spent hours straddling my surfboard watching the sun go down in the sea at Crockletts in Bude.

As for food, a stupidly cheap fry up from "Pie Stop". The food is great, and cheap yet the portions are huge.

Fancy Fish and Chips? The Codfarther is the answer to your prayers. They often have specials on (battered sausage/jumbo sausage, chips and a can of drink for £2.50!!) be warned though, a large chips will fill half a carrier bag! Not open until 11 as they go and catch the fish in the morning.

Dinner? By the sea you say? Oh why not then, a trip to "Life's a Beach" for great food and all of which is local and fresh - the seafood is caught in the morning.

Absolutely love driving down to Kernow, the trip back however, not as enjoyable.

Praa Sands in Cornwall is absolutely beautiful. Went there about 9 years ago at the start of Euro 2004. Had a great time in a wonderful place.

Not strictly the UK - but still the British Isles: a tiny little place called Inishbofin off the West Coast of Co Galway, Ireland - my late mother-in-law's homestead. An amazing place where time seems to have stood still to some extent. Still within Ireland, one of my favourite holidays ever was a week in Kerry - The Skelligs, the Gap of Dunloe....beautiful....

For a local place, the short walk from British Camp in Malvern up to the top of the hill is well worth it. Lovely view of Worcestershire and Herefordshire.
