Because, if you are big club who would normally take 1,000 if available, and a third of fans are on holiday it is still a big attendance. If you normally take 500 max like we do then lose a third to holiday then that takes you down towards 300.
Plus as discussed about fan base and attendances previously. Cheltenham people aren’t obsessed by the football and have a relatively high income…so in the summer holidays and other sporting events take precedent. Whereas in more football obsessed towns you probably get more people who plan holidays around football games.
I remember often missing August bank holiday games to family holiday, or leaving a holiday early and getting a train or coach back on my own to go to the game. I recall one epic back on trains from Anglesey when about 14 for a match.

Looking back a last season we averaged a following of 334 at our away games. Just had a look on the website and it appears we have currently sold 330 so it is likely we will be taking an above average following based on last seasons stats.
I don't think that is too bad considering at the end of the day it is not a 'glamour' fixture despite them being Cheltenham North and with it being holiday season.

Keep in mind it's one of our closest fixtures so by nature more than average will attend. I'm sure a lot will pay on the day but I'm expecting probably no more than 450 away fans at this point.Warwickshire Robin wrote: ↑01 Aug 2023, 09:22 Looking back a last season we averaged a following of 334 at our away games. M.Moore was aware of him last year but the rule at the time prohibited his coming here.

I say it every year but holiday season really doesn’t affect football attendances, especially for the opening game. Yes, maybe 10% of people are away but they should be more than offset by occasional fans who are excited about the start of the season.
With that being said I think we’ll take about 450 to Shrews which is more than we usually take there. Of more importance is that we make plenty of noise and win!!

Don’t forget though that 334 includes Tuesday nights and much further trips than Shrewsbury…. as ever, if we lose it’ll be a disappointing trip for everyone and if we win those who don’t go will be gutted to miss it!Warwickshire Robin wrote: ↑01 Aug 2023, 09:22 Looking back a last season we averaged a following of 334 at our away games. Good to see you back after missing last season, Ben3. You avoided having to read the nonsense from Ben version 4 who appeared last season but has quit the forum now.

Anyway, we’ve sold out our initial allocation - assuming c 500.
Cannot wait. Really fancy our chances.

Will the tickets be automatically transferred for the rearranged game? No chance of it being on tomorrow, storm Antoni going to bite the west of England hard and won’t be safe to playBroadway Brian wrote: ↑04 Aug 2023, 09:28 Anyway, we’ve sold out our initial allocation - assuming c 500.

You know, I'm really getting rather sick of all this bloody heavy rain, especially on weekends...
What's the drainage like at Shrewsbury? It's looking like possible heavy rain from around 3am to 3pm, with not particularly strong winds.

Great effort. Kudos to everyone going. Safe journey. The weather forecast would be rubbish for February, let alone August.

Is the game on iFollow? I live in London and I’ve cancelled golf but Shrewsbury is a long journey in the wind and the rain!
