Having missed out on Pressley and Dallas and others do we expect King to be our fifth striker
What happened to our interest in the Arsenal youngster
Good to give the youngsters run outs but King is no Wayne Rooney
Was wade making a point to the board
Lloyd is obviously out for 4 or more weeks Goodwin has not had a preseason so we have 2 first team strikers with about 20 league 1 games between them having to play 90 minutes
Remember when John Brough used to play up front is freestone a striker
Varney and Naylor both came in a bit late so who is going to come in if we dont pay
King and another striker
Moderators: Admin, Ralph, asl, Robin
With the obvious shortage of strikers I would have liked to have seen Ibby Olateju on the bench. Why he wasn't instead of King I don't know. Injury perhaps or staff thought King was better option.
Sometimes you throw them in at the deep end and see if they sink or swim.
Only other option if anything happens to our only 2 strikers is to play Olayinka up there. We did that a few times last season for a while.
But I am sure a striker will be coming in soon to help out but that won't necessarily solve the poor/low attempts on goal.

Cheltenham were never in for Pressley, Dallas, or the Arsenal lad
It’s no different to 2008 when Gillespie left and 2018 when Eisa moved on.
Both times they weren’t effectively replaced in the summer after decent transfer fees were received and it appears to be happening again.
Ok weren’t not going to be paying inflated wage demands but to go into the new season with two fit forwards is a big risk. What if one of Street and Keena had got injured today we’d be in a bit of a pickle.
Hopefully another Varney or Naylor is on the way.

Surprises me that we weren't but presumably Pressley and Dallas were out of budget particularly with the latter going to Barnsley

Keena was signed as May’s replacement and I believe he will score the goals.
Keena was our record signing. As far as the club is concerned May has been replaced and I back them on that.
I know bookies odds follow the money, but keena is 80/1 to be L1 top scorer. Well he was before yesterday's game, haven't checked to see if any movement either wayRegencyCheltenhamSpa wrote: ↑06 Aug 2023, 10:42In those summers we didn’t already sign their replacement in January.Fuller wrote: ↑05 Aug 2023, 20:54 It’s no different to 2008 when Gillespie left and 2018 when Eisa moved on.

How much you putting on him to be top scorer Regency? I like Keena but he ain't going to be top scorer in league 1 this year. Happy to bet you £10 he won't. Will also be happy to pay you £10 if he is.RegencyCheltenhamSpa wrote: ↑06 Aug 2023, 11:06Definitely worth a bet. We all see how he tore up the last ten games last season.
Our play is not conducive to having a top scorer. Even Alfie couldn't do it. Before you mention Alfie.
Anyone note Alfie could have scored yesterday but Dobson got to the ball first 2yds out. Bet Alfie was pi$$ed off about that. We probably want Alfie to score lots of goals for some extra money
How about we throw out some names to join our strike force..as a bit of fun. Delve in to Prem 2 squads and frees and others.
I mentioned a while back about seeing a lad from Liverpool who had a sweet left foot who seemed to play wide. Can't remember his name but it is in previous topic.
Not saying we know more than Russ but just a bit of fun to speculate as this is what the forum is about.
Or maybe splash some cash for someone we would like to see. Mo E?

That kind of post only works if you are offering odds. Why would anyone consider an even money bet like that?1985CTFC wrote: ↑06 Aug 2023, 11:18How much you putting on him to be top scorer Regency? Ummm can I afford to give you £800 pound for your outlay of £10.
I'm 99.9% sure I would win.......but footballs a funny old game.
Would I be happy for Keena to be top scores and £800 out of pocket?
I'll go 10/1 with you then...you are still only going to lose £10 as before. Last offer.

20/1 and it’s a deal. That’s still only a quarter of the price the bookies offer so I’d be foregoing a fair bit of potential reward to take your worse offer, as a favour to you. So I think 20/1 is fair.1985CTFC wrote: ↑06 Aug 2023, 14:57Not that confident then.RegencyCheltenhamSpa wrote: ↑06 Aug 2023, 11:57Happy to bet £10 but I’d rather do so at 80/1 than evens, if that’s ok.1985CTFC wrote: ↑06 Aug 2023, 11:18

So you don't lose to much money OK I will go for 20/1 with a £5 bet. So I potentially lose £100 and you lose £5. Or I win £5 and you win £100. Doesn't sound good for me, but there are some goal scorers in this league so chances are I will win and it won't break your bank account.RegencyCheltenhamSpa wrote: ↑06 Aug 2023, 15:3720/1 and it’s a deal. Otherwise I’ll use the £10 with bookies offering 80/1 which is a much better offer for me.
You are the one who proposed the bet, knowing what bookies were offering, so you have to compete with them for my money.

In which case, we’re in a pickle. Keena did well last few games of last season with May. May did well second half of last season with Keena.RegencyCheltenhamSpa wrote: ↑06 Aug 2023, 10:49Because no one knows who he is and he plays for Cheltenham.Ihearye wrote: ↑06 Aug 2023, 10:46I know bookies odds follow the money, but keena is 80/1 to be L1 top scorer. If Keena was solely May’s replacement then we need to sign Nlundulu’s replacement and hope that is a source of goal chances for AK.

With Goodwin to replace Brown - but with more contribution - when fit.
Keena was purchased with money we knew we would receive for May. So a fourth striker will likely have to be a loan.

Bet on.
At least for me if Keena is top scorer we have had a good season and not relegated. Might be worth £200 to me then.
Keena needs someone to supply him with the chances whoever that will be.
Ideal situation for me is he is 2nd highest. Ha
