Officials make mistakes! What next, calling for a replay if your striker misses an open goal! Your lot wouldn't finish the season until August
Behave. There's no way we're creating an open-goal chance.SHANDY VOR wrote: ↑04 Oct 2023, 19:10 Officials make mistakes! What next, calling for a replay if your striker misses an open goal! Your lot wouldn't finish the season until August

Hopefully this prompts the authorities to implement some better communication protocols. Compare that shambles of a conversation between the VAR and others with the orderly and structured conversations between the on-pitch referee and video referees in cricket and rugby.
Of course the game should not be replayed. But such chaotic and unprofessional events should not happen again.

Yea, the words used during reviews in cricket in particular are very prescribed and leave no room for ambiguity. Makes it sound a bit robotic - but it works.
The audio from this VAR is pure comedy. The poor guy operating the replay basically going "What? Are you sure? What??"

That suggested to me that the general lack of intelligence a lot of British footballers and managers suffer from extends to referees as well.asl wrote: ↑05 Oct 2023, 12:00 Yea, the words used during reviews in cricket in particular are very prescribed and leave no room for ambiguity. Maybe rather than an actual referee doing VAR duties they should get more analytically minded people who can follow a logical process better.
As you point out, the video operator was clear and knew what was going on but the VAR just sounded as thick as mince.
