Think we are a feeder club for the Irish League! But it is worth keeping an eye out to see if we can find a few gems. Be interesting to see G Sloggett play.
Wonder if a Mata/ Keena partnership would work in Lg 1 like it did in Ireland.
I wonder what standard of overall play the league of Ireland is feels more like lower league two top end of national league given some of fringe players go out and do well there.

Go watch a game. I can thoroughly recommend Brandywell, home of Derry City (they play in red and white strips as a bonus). Derry itself is well worth a long weekend.

Also noticed that Max Mata has been loaned back to Sligo from Shrewsbury
Surprised by this - well, not surprised in that he has 1 goal in 20 odd games, but his release clause was significantly more expensive than Keena’s so maybe that’s just a loan to get his confidence back.

2nd most expensive player in Shrews history at £120,000 and loaned out a few months after joining. Micky Moore recruitment gone downhill after leaving us.

Presume the lads who’ve gone to the Irish clubs are all free transfers?
Or at least we’d get a sell on clause? (Unlikely.)

Mata has a three year contract at Shrewsbury. He wants to play and has International games to try to get selected for. Decent player but needs to be part of a two up front.

Not too sure by what standards who would recommend brandywell. Ok it is better that the stadium I first went going to in 1963, but to me it is still a rather bleak stadium. Especially on a wet day.

Some might argue If he was decent, and given their situation, they would have held on to him. The Sligo manager seems to think he can play in any role.
