"Bloom has sunk half a billion pounds of his own money into turning Brighton from League One strugglers to Europa League participants," said Seagulls supporter Scott McCarthy from the We Are Brighton fan site.

There's an old adage: "if you want to make a small fortune in football - start with a large one."

Loathe as I am to defend Brighton, of all the targets for obscene spending in the Premier League there are plenty more deserving of opprobrium than Bloom.

That half a billion spend is over a near 20 year period and includes £100m spent on one of the best, most beautifully designed stadiums in the country. His dad and grandad were both Albion fans and he was born and bred in the town.

Compared to the Glazers, the Saudis, Mansour etc etc Bloom is salt of the earth.

fair points but they've paid for their seat at the prem table, its not little old Brighton getting by on a few quid and goodwill, which seems to be the angle they're attempting to take.

Yep, agree with that.

Anyway, do we know any wealthy poker players who also happen to love CTFC...?!
