Keep in mind it was only a friendly and the only one I have bothered with this summer. I do not expect a great deal and believe there is only so much you can take from games like this:

Positives:
[*] All the following looked a class above Bath, Taylor, Vaughan, Elliott, Sterling-James, Arthur, Richards, Gornell, Harrison and Hanks.
[*] I'm confident Vaughan will make the step up.
[*] Taylor and Elliott look like they will make a very good partnership at the back when we play physical sides.
[*] Terry Gornell is a more than able deputy for Byron as number ten.

Negatives:
[*] Haworth - based on today I don't see how he fits into the team. He doesn't seem to have any distinguishable pace, not much trickery and although his crossing is ok I don't see him creating many chances.
[*] Kotwica - I'm sorry but he must be fourth choice at the moment and he needs to improve a lot if he's going to make it as pro. The raw talent is there but he's lacking something. I would send him on loan for the first six months to a conference side.
[*] Based on today Bingham is not up to it, we could take a gamble on him as there appears to be a player there but he's no where near first team ready just yet.

Other thoughts:
[*] He didn't do anything wrong but Carson seems really small in that goal, I hope we do not have problems with an aerial threat.
[*] Although he doesn't look all that impressive either Black does look more solid than CBB.
[*] Based on today Elliott and Taylor should start the season as first choice centre halves. Troy will need to wait his turn.
[*] We are dearly missing a number nine and a central midfielder who can tackle and pick a pass.

I have low hopes Duke. Based on what I saw today I expect us to be more solid at the back but hard to see us scoring or creating many chances. I'd predict a bottom half finish in all honesty.

My thoughts - we're still relying on Stevie E, looked the best player to me today. Wasn't that inspired too much by anybody else.

Should I be putting my money on plenty of 0-0 draws this season?

Ref goal keeper, we were at the cricket Monday and said to one of the directors he looked short, he replied they are in fact the same height.

Poor pre-seasons are a good sign for a solid season. Keep the faith.

I think your assessment of Kotwica was a little harsh, he showed good touches and movement. He's only 17 isn't he? I don't think we're in any danger of him being too high in the pecking order... That said, I agree, more match time at a lower level wouldn't do any harm.
