I am up for The Cup.
Some good potential draws for me. Gateshead, Blyth, Spennymoor or Shildon all not too far if we are away at any of them.
Any of the local prospects like Worcester, Evesham, The Gas, Bath or the Gloucestershire derby winners would be nice too.
Cup fever!
Number 10. Cheltenham Town vs...

Bristol City or Rovers or Coventry or Torquay at home. We need all the cash we can grab at the mo.

After last season, I don't wanna take the risk, even at home. Quick cash in R1 please.

I want either Bristol City or Rovers at home in R1. Guaranteed big attendance and gets some much-needed cash into the club quickly.
No messing about with non-league this season please.

Well, there are 79 possible opponents, and a 50/50 chance of a home tie, but only one draw that would give me a new ground to tick
Maidstone United away please

That's my worry. After last season, a run to at least R3 is what we really need. I'd be reasonably confident of getting through to R3 with 2 home draws thou.
CTFC03 - I think as a fan you are getting confused
Any money we generate that is extra above what was budgeted for will not go towards the playing budget but will be used to reduce the deficit caused by the poor gates
ST were down by 200+ = £60000
attendances are down say by 200 per match so that is say £1500 per match for 7 matches = £10500
against extra income from TV match £10000 so we are at a guess £60000 down on where we should be
Even if we are in the promotion running with 5 matches to go I am sure the chairman would rather get the playoffs and final so as to max revenue
Remember we dont want to be in the top 7 too soon so we dont pay bonuses ( the chairman confirmed we only pay bonuses when we are in top 7)

It's Ok, a smaller version of the Shrews ground, miles out of the town like most new grounds.
BTW: Apart from Chelt, has any other Glos club made R3 of the Cup?

Think it's a bit harsh to sit on Byron and ride him on the beach

I've been to Weston with CTFC before! Used to be a lovely little place full of retirees but now it's more like Chav city beach front.Malabus wrote:Weston-Super-Mare away sounds an attractive fixture. Few cold ciders, belly full of cockles and then on the donkeys.
A dream for them too - they went out in the First Qualifying Round to the giants of Ellistown and Ibstock United.Robin wrote:So let's say a 4000 gate against Bristol City, we won't make much given the gates are split. I guess the dream tie is H*r*ford away for the TV cameras.

49. Spennymoor Town - were called Evenwood Town until Spennymoor United folded in 2005. Took over the ground in Spennymoor but kept Evenwood's place in Northern League, Division 2. Promoted in 2007, won Northern League in 2010, 2011 and 2012 but each time declined promotion. Decided to go for the step up in 2013, but finished runners-up to the reformed Darlington. Won title and were promoted last season. FA Vase winners 2013. First time in final qualifying round.
49 AFC Telford. Founded in 2004 to replace Telford United. Curiously, Telford had only ever moved up and down the leagues by election, and when new leagues were formed. AFC TU have three promotions and one relegation in their short history, and have reached the First Round of the cup twice. Champions of Conference North
50. AFC Fylde. Formed as Kirkham & Wesham by the merger of two village clubs in 1988, took Kirkham Town's place in West Lancashire League and flitted between divisions, relegated in 1990 and 1995, promoted in 1992 and 1996. Came to the fore in 1999-2000 season, and won West Lancashire title seven times in eight seasons. It is very unusual for a club to have this sort of success at this level. Generally teams whose facilities do not allow promotion break up after a short period. Money is thought to be the binding force that kept them successful. In 2006, they moved to Kellemargh Park, about four miles from the village in an area best described as desolate. This meant in 2007, they could join North West Counties League and enter the FA Vase. Their first Vase game was 8th September 2007, when they beat Worsborough Bridge Miners' Welfare Athletic 3-1. The crowd of 187 included yours truly. ON 11 May 2008, they beat Lowestoft Town 2-1 at Wembley to left the Vase. They won promotion both their seasons in the North West Counties League, changing their name in 2008. They spent three seasons in the lower division of the Northern Premier before taking the title, and then two seasons in the Premier Division, entering the play offs both times. In 2013, they lost out to Hednesford, but last year they beat Worksop Town and Ashton United to secure a Conference North place. Currently top of the league. They reached the First Round of the cup in 2013, losing at home to Accrington Stanley
51. Grimsby Town. Relegated from the Football League in 2010
52. Shildon. Joined the Northern League (from the semi-professional North Eastern League) in 1932, and dominated the league until the war started, with five titles. Their best post war season was last year, when they finished third. FA Cup First Round on seven occasions (last was 2003), and second round in 1936
52. Norton United. Played in the Staffordshire County League (which was known for a while as the Midland League, but is not the same league as the current league by the same name). Champions in 1997, 1999 and 2001 before moving up to the North West Counties League. Played 11 seasons in the lower division, but then only two in the top division before moving to the Northern Premier (Division One South) as Champions. Odd season this time, they won their first league match, then lost five in a row, and have now won five in a row. Their only draws coming in the FA Cup. Started in the Preliminary Round, and have never reached the second qualifying round before this season
Not surprisingly, I cannot do all the teams - not with the draw as soon as 7pm tomorrow. But lets include
73. Concord Rangers. Founded as boys team in 1967, and named after the Concord Beach on Canvey Island. Concord joined the Essex League in 1991, after spells in Sunday Football, the Mid Essex League, and the Essex Intermediate League. They moved to Beach Road in 1985, having played on park pitches. They won the Essex League in 1998, 2004 and 2008 taking promotion to the Isthmian League in 2008. They spent two seasons in Division One North, reaching the play off final both times, in 2009, they lost to Waltham Abbey on penalties, while in 2010, they beat Enfield Town. In 2013, they finished fourth in the Isthmian Premier, and then beat Wealdstone and Lowestoft Town in the play offs to take a place in Conference South. (Last season, Wealdstone were Isthmian Champions and Lowestoft won the play offs) They reached the final qualifying round of the FA Cup for the first time last season (losing 3-0 at Barnet), and go at least one better this time.
